Imus be an idiot . . .

But high fiving as if they won something (granted its been a while since they have won something) is a little over the top and makes them look petty.
Not to mention idiotic. Thx, somebody gets it.

...and the wave of true stupidity here - ie by the ones blowing this grossly out of proportion - continues with Bruce Gordon, a member of CBS Corp.'s board of directors, who I was shocked to learn is a former CEO of the NAACP, no really (his bit is about half-way down):

LOL @ "Don Imus violated our community. He attacked beautiful, talented, classy women..."

Never mind the fact that he needs glasses and the lack of class in a Rutgers team who felt a need for a press conference to strut around in their ivory towers and make asses of themselves....but "violated our community" is hilarious, albeit in a pathetic sort of way. Hey Don, you violate common sense and even the most modest of intelligence, but I don't see people calling for your head.

This really sets new lows on the PC brain-dead scale, and nowdays that's not easy to do IMO. (Naturally this means Sharpton and Jesse J are at the heart of it)

God bless America: Land of the Offended, Home of Hypocrisy.

You just argued for nine pages he didn't say anything offensive. I agree it's gone overboard.

Holy ****...

I NEVER claimed he did not say anything offensive! Not once!

I said he was not "racist" and what he said was not meant to be racist. That's it.

To blow it into a media frenzy is the PC brain-dead part. To find what he said ignorant and insulting is not.

I don't think he's a racist either. I think he is just ignorant to the fact that some terms from his youth are no longer acceptable and some new terms are not cool, but insulting.
Sorry but you're incredibly naive if you don't think he knew those terms were offensive. I take it you never listen to talk radio? (bravo to you if so, though) This is how DJs like him, Stern, ad nauseum get popular: by doing the "shock jock" bit. ie it's SUPPOSED to be offensive.

Snoop Dog weighs in...

[Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We’re talking about ho’s that’s in the ‘hood that ain’t doing sh–, that’s trying to get a n—a for his money. These are two separate things. First of all, we ain’t no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them mutha—-as say we in the same league as him.

Well put "Snoop Dog", well put...

The Political Correctness Gestapo are out in hoards today....
Oh, grow up, Dustin. Jeezus Christ in a warm-up jacket...

And it's "hordes." "Hoard" is something you do with your money when it's running out.

That too; absolutely.

To find what he said ignorant and insulting is not.
Insulting? Sure. Ignorant? Nah. He knew exactly what he was saying. I'm sure Stern has said worse numerous times. Hell Sharpton and Jackson have, for that matter. But they're minorities so it's OK.

You can't fire Sharpton or Jackson and both are disliked by many. Stern is now on satellite radio for being an idiot.

He isn't racist. He made an offensive remark and apologized. Period. The whole situation has grown out of control.
He's a diptwit who set out to be offensive because he thought he could get away with it. And now he's discovered he can't.

Boo hoo, Dustin, grow up; no matter how much you get whiney, dishonest and abusive yourself here, Imus is toast, and justifiably so, and you aren't convincing anyone at all except of the fact that on this subject you're a nutcase. Get over it, move on.

Yeah. That's why they held a press conference.

A press conference is needed when the media has ran with a story. If not, the girls would be hounded by the press at school individualy. The girls shouldn't be held accountable for that.

But do we know yet as to what the alleged high-fives were all about, such as having "won something," and whether they actually occurred? If someone pissed me and my buddies off and later got in trouble for it, what would be idiotic about me slippiing a simple high five to one of them? Bowlers may high five each other after each strike; it's not exactly "we just won the Super Bowl" stuff when you see it.

Prove he meant to be offensive.

  1. Explain how I've been dishonest.
  2. Explain how Imus's being fired is justified.
  3. Explain how I am a "Nutcase".
I see a lot of accusations and no examples or evidence. Typical of your posts.

You're naive if you think the Media still won't hound them.

Let me quote Jason Whitlock...

I watched the Rutgers news conference and was ashamed.

Martin Luther King Jr. spoke for eight minutes in 1963 at the March on Washington. At the time, black people could be lynched and denied fundamental rights with little thought. With the comments of a talk-show host most of her players had never heard of before last week serving as her excuse, Vivian Stringer rambled on for 30 minutes about the amazing season her team had.

Somehow, we’re supposed to believe that the comments of a man with virtually no connection to the sports world ruined Rutgers’ wonderful season. Had a broadcaster with credibility and a platform in the sports world uttered the words Imus did, I could understand a level of outrage.

But an hour long press conference over a man who has already apologized, already been suspended and is already insignificant is just plain intellectually dishonest.

This is opportunism. This is a distraction.

Yes, well said.

Stern is now on satellite rasio for being an idiot.
Misconception. Stern went to satellite radio because a) he was tired of the FCC-imposed limitations on his speech and b) Sirius offered him a trainload of cash (apparently, $600 million with bonuses and counting for the term of his contract). Nobody fired him and he would have been - probably was - offered millions of dollars to stay on terrestrial radio.

Here's the Imus take of Phil Hendrie, a radio comedy genius if ever there was one.

OK. I am offended by the term "old-ass white men." Anyone else with me on this?
