Imagine you are god.

Why would you keep humans ignorant about life after death?:D

IMHO heaven is so good that evryone would kill himself to get there quickly.

If I were God and I had made a super cool life-after-death, in which I could have fascinating discussions with my free-will-posessing underlings, then I wouldn't wait.

I'd dispense with life-before-death altogether.

Uhm, because people from the past wouldn't understand things like ninjas, pirates, and robots, much less why they're all running around being cool.

If I were a god, first I would get laid. But I'd use a condom, so that I didn't have all those problems that Zeus had.

As god I would have them around as slaves?
Cheap labour?
God is really a construction worker, and the whole universe is just a recruitment agency for his master build

Why should I stoop to imagination? :p

I would create a sub-class of humans, to be known as "mediums", who could contact those in the afterlife but couldn't quite hear what was being said to them.

Unfortunately for them, this inability to communicate properly would make them look like a bunch of buffoons.

I am indeed, a cruel God.

I would bestow knowledge of the afterlife upon dogs. If they become mediums and fail to channel the other side to human satisfaction, they can save face by doing tricks afterwards.

If heaven was so good, then why would you, as God, make anyone endure existing anywhere else?
Well, the story goes something like this:

In the beginning there was only IT. IT wanted to experience everything possible. IT started to create a greater self, that self includes us. We are part of IT and our purpose is to expand the experience of IT.

I'm not prepared to back this up, nor am I saying I believe this. This is just one explanation I've come across.

IT departments certainly seem to be all powerfull these days, I guess this goes some way to explain it.

"Have you turned it off and on?"

"We're experiencing some problems with the network."

Same old excuses though. :)

I'd only favor that civilization that built the biggest, most flamboyant stone temple in my honor. I'd just be curious to know how much blood and treasure they'd spend to appease me.

If God is trying to keep heaven a secret he's doing a really lousy job. Billions of people have "figured it out".

Here's some advice for you God: The next time you want to keep something secret, don't write about it in the holy litterature.
