Images not loading

I'm having a little problem at home with being on the internet for about 30 minutes, when suddenly the images stop loading and the taskbar showing the loading status of the site hangs indefinitely. If I reboot the computer, it works fine again for another 30 minutes, and then starts messing up again.

I thought it might be the errant Wild Tangent that found its way to my Program Files directory, which I quarantined with Ad Aware, since it was the day of the quarantine that the problem started. But when I put Wild Tangent back, the problem still kept occurring. Ad Aware isn't showing any other spyware or browser hijackers, and my Antivir isn't picking up any viruses.

I tried to find something on google about this but was unsuccessful. Has anyone else heard of this problem?

Connection:- Dial up or broadband ?
Browser settings? Could it be set to disconnect after 20 minutes idle time or similar?

Wild Tangent sometimes tends to corrupt your computer's image.dll file, and sometimes trying to delete Wild Tangent will even completely delete the file! Try to locate image.dll in C:\WINDOWS folder. Whether it is there or not, chances are it needs to be replaced.

First, completely delete Wild Tangent. Then, go to this site and download a new image.dll (all the dll's on this site are free to download). Simply place the new dll in the C:\WINDOWS folder (answer yes if prompted to replace the existing file) and restart. Should be good as new.

DSL and no weird settings; it just started happening suddenly, and surfing was not impaired, just the images.

Thanks Joshua, I'll try what you suggest. :) I figured it was Wild Tangent all along.

Sorry, man this took forever to do, since my images vanished again, such as the "reply" etc. So I had to highlight and hover over likely areas...

It worked or so I thought. From about 7:00 p.m. till just now (11:20).

I did everything that was asked. Still no joy. And my networked friend, whom I assumed didn't get my problems (though I could be wrong), started getting them as well.

What I didn't say before is that I'm on the latest IE.

Please, if anyone can help me, or direct me to a place that is better suited to this type of question. I just prefer asking among friends first.

I had a similar problem, I solved the problem going to Internet Options and changing the maximum allowed internet cache from 4 Mb to 312 Mb.

There is always the cure-all solution:
Switch to Firefox.
