• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

I'm trying Opera

It's F11 in IE, too. I have an "Office compatible" keyboard in which the function keys default to MS Office shortcuts unless you turn it off by pressing the "Office" button. If I forget, hitting F11 brings up the find utility rather than going fullscreen. Maybe you have something similar.

edit: don't know about deepnet explorer

It's weird because now it's working. Yeah I like the tabs on deepnet. Great.

Jesus this firefox piece of crap is doing my nut in! I've now got another problem which has appeared in the past 24 hours where I have to scroll down loads to see any content on some webpages!

Are there any other browsers apart from Explorer, firefox and Opera?

There was one based on Internet Explorer but can't recall its name :(

There are several other browsers, yes. Some are based on the same engines as Firefox (like Netscape, Mozilla) some are "based" on IE, like MyIE2 (I think). There's NO POINT installing a "browser" based on IE. All it is is a wrapper with IE embedded. That's IE. Using IE is the problem in the first place for most people.

From your other comments (F11, scrolling) it sounds like your installation is screwed, although firefox does present some scrolling problems on badly formatted pages and sometimes when you've got an odd combination of plugins which change the content dynamically (like ad-blocking tools)

I only had a problem with Explorer in as much as it didn't have tabs, and I didn't like the minimized pages stacking up in one slot on the task bar. All other things being equal I don't like to use explorer though because of the security issues. But with loads of pages not working with firefox and having to use the extension "open in IE", including this message board, its far from ideal.

The problem I mentioned with firefox where I need to scroll down to see content didn't occur until about 3 days ago. I haven't installed any more plug ins, but obviously something happened. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still manifested.

So I've given up on it and am using deepnet at the moment. See what it's like.

Again, I don't think that's a problem with firefox, since every version I use (and I use a lot of machines) works fine here and the only pages that don't display nicely actually do display the best they can given the source.

Well I accept it may simply be my lack of knowledge of computers, browsers and what have you which prevents me from having a trouble free experience.

But most people don't know a great deal about computers and browsers and simply want something to work without messing on.

It's like this stupid internet telephony VOIP stuff. I'd love to be able to get rid of my landline and simply use voip for my telephone. But I've never succeeded in making a telephone call to a landline using voip yet, despite devoting quite a bit of time in trying to do so!

People don't want to spend a significant proportion of their lives messing about with computers trying to get them to do straightforward things. Life is too short!
