Illuminati Symbolism??

I felt compelled to make this thread based on the obnoxious number of times I see the word Illuminati pop up on random (often celebrity related) videos or even in waking life. It seems anytime there's a video that prominently features a triangular shape and a famous celeb the word illuminati pops up which begs an interesting question, is there even such a thing as an Illuminati symbol?


From the digging i've done I haven't found any evidence that shows any symbols were used in the organization. It's certainly possible (or even likely) that symbols were used in some form or fashion but from what I can surmise none were conclusively known to be used and essentially all the symbols described as "Illuminati symbols" by CTist are actually symbols commonly associated with masonry. If you do a google image search for "Illuminati symbols" you'll find 90% of the results seem to be images of (or related to) the Eye Of Providence/the triangular shape associated with it.


Interestingly according to this site the first documented use of the symbol by freemasons was in 1797 (14 years after the Great Seal was created) and there's no evidence of it EVER being used in the Illuminati. Even more humorous is the fact that the Illuminati was disbanded by the Bavarian Gov't in 1785. 12 years before the masons began adopting the symbol. Naturally this is meaningless to CTist because Freemasons and Illuminati are one and the same (i.e. interchangeable) in the CT realm.

Also worth pointing out is the fact the rear of the dollar (which CTist love to use as a conspiracy promoting device) is simply The Great Seal divided on opposing sides, which as I mentioned earlier was created many years before the Eye of Providence was first used by masons.

I agree with most of the other stuff. There is actually no evidence that the Illuminati ever used the eye of providence. AFAIK the Owl of Minerva is the only symbol associated with the bavarian Illuminati.

It's unfortunate that the english Wikipedia only contains a crappy catch-all article about "Illuminati" with few informations about the historical group. While the german Wikipedia has an "excellent" article about the order, full of details from the archives. Would be worthwhile to translate. It also features the symbol (Greedo is correct):

Watch a video with the likes of a Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and you'll likely find CTist screaming illuminati any time a triangular shape appears, an eye is covered or numerous poses CTist want to describe as demonic/illuminati related. This thread is a pretty good representation of what you'll find. Also thanks for the mention of the Owl of Minerva. I wasn't sure if there were ANY symbols associated with the Illuminati or not.

Yeah, that's what I expected. I know that thread, it somewhat helped me through my CT paranoia, actually. I know what you mean, just watch any music video, interview with one of the afore mentioned artists and experience epic brain death in the comments.

It is quite interestig to see how the CTers try to "recruit". Mostly proof by verbosity, kind of. "They evidence is everywhere, look it up ; )" and for some reason there's always that smiley. The CTers really are that so paranoid that they take any triangle as "proof" of Illuminati existence, while in fact there is no reference at all to the B.I. ever having even used the eye of providence! In fact, besides the Owl of Minerva, there is extremely little known about the symbols of the B.I. . Chances are, symbols didn't mean a lot. See, when one pictures a secret society today, there always have to be symbols and rituals (of course this is fueled by authors like Dan Brown), as if that was the core of the whole thing. If you look at it critically, you realize that the Illuminati actually didn't have bad ideas. While they in a way really were plotting to "infiltrate" politics, they were doing so to bring about a moral improvement through enlightenment, making authority and reign over people redundant. Err, gee, so much for NWO police state . It is ironic that today christian CTists believe they where satanists, obviously we can thank the Taxil Hoax for that one. The B.I. where believers just like most people. One interesting sidenote is, that while CTers scream "Rothschild family is part of teh Illuminati OMG", that in reality is very unlikely. For the simple reason that Adolph Knigge, who today is known for his teachings on good manners, actually made it illegal for jews to join the Illuminati. I don't have to tell you how ironic this is. Sorry CTers, teh Joos are not in on it

There is no link between the Illuminati and the number 23. Also look up Karl Koch, sad story, just shows what CTs can do to the weak minded.


When CTists go on about music videos, one has to realize that the artist himself doesn't have a lot to say. A director is hired, same goes for photo shoots for covers, for instance. And it's usually someone else every time. These people have studied this stuff, and their objective is to get the video or cover to stand out. It helps to do research on individual music videos / albums - who directed them, who directed the photo shoot, etc. Do you really think a 25 year old music video director, that has previously shot 6 videos, that is from Denmark, is some sort of Illuminati symbolism specialist to plant symbols (wich really are none) in music videos? Some artists have even adressed these allegations. Rihanna has even added it into one of her music videos, where she sings about her "relationship" with the media. Obviously, the artists read this stuff too .

Well spotted, that was when we thought a partial english translation of our motto might be useful for the spreading of one of our myriads of subversive movements. And it rhymed, so it was good.

You make some good points. I find it humorous when the the Illuminati is implicated as being responsible for the French Revolution" considering the French Revolution was a good thing lol. The Illuminati would tend towards and promote what we call "secular humanism" these days. They certainly had amicable goals.

Well said. I also love the quote from Penn Jillette you mentioned in the Illuminati symbolism thread you created. It seems appropriate here. "When there are secrets people make $@!% up" (which really is the basis of Illuminati CT's in general).

My thoughts as well. Often times artist have little input in wardrobe, video production, song writing, ect. But of course conspiracy theorist would see this as the artist being blind to the Illuminati "puppeteer".
