Illinois rep. Nick Sauer resigns over nude-ex Instagram photos

This seems at first glance to be a run-of-the-mill revenge porn story:

Rep. Nick Sauer resigned after a published report alleging he set up an Instagram account under the Chicago woman's name and posted explicit photos.

Politico reported that the woman filed complaints with Chicago police and the legislative inspector general against the first-term lawmaker from Lake Barrington.

The 35-year-old Sauer was a member of the House Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Task Force and was seeking re-election in November.

But it's not.

What the news article above neglects to mention is that Sauer didn't set up the Instagram under his girlfriend's name and post her nude photos to it for revenge. It turns out he actually used the account to attract men whom he would then have sexually-explicit text-chat relationships with while posing as his girlfriend, according to this piece by the Times.

If there's one thing that's been beneficial about this new age of everyone being on social media, it's the fact that all of these scumbags just can't resist showing their true colours to the entire world... and inevitably getting caught.

So there's that.

But what makes this particular case even worse is that this useless bag of flesh was a member of the House Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Task Force !

Sickening.

And according to Politico:

The complaint says Kelly’s employer helped her determine how long the fake Instagram account had been in use based on when messages were sent, which was close to the time they had started dating.

Well I guess creating a fake Instagram account exploiting a woman's identity for bait instead of for revenge scores slightly higher on the morality scale. But not very much...

But it is the shear stupidity of it all that really strikes me - as if this would not become public! The implications as to Sauer's intelligence are alone enough to disqualify him from any public office and most of the jobs I can envision.

You remember Clippy, the talking paperclip that was universally hated in early versions of Microsoft Office? I once made the mistake of searching for a Clippy plushy, as a gag gift for a co-worker. I did not find a plushy.
