I'll be... Truthers in Norway?

But seriously folks, Israeli. In the European Song Contest. Shouldn't they be disqualified on the grounds of, y'know, geography?
Personally I think people from the asian half of Russia should be disqualified as well -- if only for being the first nation to have an, uhm, wardrobe malfunction live on TV.

For the record, the European Song Contest has never been based on geography, but rather european (yes..) broadcasting union membership and includes most countries on this side of the Atlantic with "western" cultures and an interest in western programming. That includes nations from Europe, Asia/The Middle East and Africa.

The UEFA does a similar thing for soccer.

Oh, and I can confirm a sighting of a Loose Change t-shirt in Norway.

Oh dear.. Where was it? I'm guessing Oslo
Bergen. Last I heard, 87% of Norwegians believe Bush and/or the Jews did 9/11. They are spreading and taking over!

Also, I am afraid I did not engage the target out of fear of losing the precious few IQ points I have left.

And I thought that people in Europe were better educated than their North American counterparts. So much for that I guess...

I was on the subway last week and there was an ad for the police services and someone wrote on it saying "9/11=inside job".

I live in Bergen, and I can not promise to let anyone walk around here with a Loose Change t-shirt without having a word or two with them...

Where did it say 87%? Do you have a link?

Oh, all the polls confirm it... As reported by major news services.

Someone wandering around Bergen in February wearing on a Loose Change t-shirt? Definetly displaying average troofer intelligence levels!:D

I'm not surprised. We've got our fair share of them here in sweden too. On the local kook-webforum they even found The PentaCon to be convincing and interesting.

I'll be in Europe this summer. I would've been in Monaco for the F1 had the tour not been delayed by 3 days! Damn student groups. I certainly hope it was a tourist, or I would be mortified and my aspirations to live in Monaco would go down the hole!

I haven't visited vaken.se in a while (assuming that's what you mean by local kook forum) since it makes my brain hurt everytime, but I'm not surprised. The swedish twoofers seem more of wannabe twoofers than their american counterparts. They never come up with any ideas of theri own and always seem to buy into the most far fetched and thourougly debunked theories.

Yupp, vaken is the one. It's an odd forum since it's about anything that's crazy really. Where else does a discussion about the "moon landin hoax" sidetrack into a "the moon was built millions of years ago as an alien military base"?

Vaken passed the point where it became self debunking a long time ago, and now they seem more about hating jews and america than anything else.

One of my personal favourites is Xtragalactic who recieves messages from aliens and posts them on the forum.

Here is a video he posted on youtube of a UFO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPYqFTVH2pI

Just watched that video, the man is a fruitcake i mean, you can clearly see the anti-collission lights on that aeroplane  WOWSERS....

But alas they are here in Denmark too :( been debating a bit but i cant do it for long, they give me a headache.

Jeez, why not Norway?

Maybe they'll link 9/11 to the sinking of the battleship Tirpitz in Tromso Fjord in 1944. Bits of her are still there.

Come to think of it, they never found that third X-craft in the attack on the Tirpitz. Maybe the midget submarine X-5 did 9/11!

Ah, but can you prove that those lights do not belong to a UFO?

No?

Didn't think so!

I don't think this is correct and would therefore like to see the source for this claim. Most Norwegians probably don't know about (or are interested in) the dubious claims of the CT's. But in the age of the Internet, it only takes a few believers to make a lot of fuzz. The "truthers" certainly have convinced some norwegians to "just ask questions". As ususal, the only thing they have in common is that they havent bothered to read any of the official reports, like the NIST investigation. The most prominent "thruther" in Norway was an anthropologist, Emil Andre Royrvik, who embarrased his employer, The Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (SINTEF) by embracing the CT's. If you understand any scandinavian, you may read all about in on the norwegian sceptics society page. www.skepsis.no.
It seems that most of (from casual observation) the norwegian "truthers" are left leaning bush bashers. I find this disturbing, as others have pointed at, that if yuo relly want to change something and have an impact, truth is your most important ally. If you take short cuts, your credibillity goes out the vindow. "Truthers" really are Rummys, Cheneys and Bushes best friends.

Don't mind me, I was just doing my Alex Jones impression.

You're probably right in that there aren't that many full-blown conspiracy kooks, but there is no denying that there is a sense of distrust of everything American that has only grown stronger over the last few years. Whether it's justified or not doesn't really matter.. It's there, and I've certainly seen people shrug off the conspiracy theories with "who knows, nothing surprises me about the Americans/Bush anymore" rather than outright dismissing the claims. Just a diplomatic way to avoid getting dragged into a pointless debate? Maybe, maybe not.

To be honest, I don't think the handful of nutjobs that frequent the Norwegian forums is what we should really be worried about -- they are pretty insignificant and seem to be shunned by most other users. What I'm more concerned about is the how the general public perceives the US. Mistrust makes people more open to the conspiracy theories. But I guess that's a discussion that belongs in a political forum.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Sorry, -other way round. He claims it to be a UFO HE has to proove it. A call to the local airport with the time and place should easily identify the plane i'd say...
