That has got to be some sort of record.

A friend of mine was in med school, and a lecture on malpractice included the story of a man who had had abdominal surgery with significant postop pain. The surgeon dismissed it as normal, or possibly psychosomatic.

Some months later, an x-ray showed 7 hemostats distributed around the abdominal cavity. Apparently the reaction among the people who saw it was amazement that the guy didn't clank when he walked.

The surgeon, on being informed of the malpractice suit, took the x-ray to his lawyer and asked, "So, how are we going to fight this?"

The lawyer had to break the surgeon's reality distortion field.

"We're going to write a rediculously big check and you're going into a new line of work."
