If ghosts are hallucinations, why are mostly people seen?

well I know a lot of people that have their dead pets as ghosts. Or so they believe. Grandma is in heaven but Fluffy and Fido are still around.

I work alien abductees. They don't see ghosts. They see aliens. In fact they get into knock down drag out fights like "GHOST" ..."ALIEN"... "GHOST"...."ALIEN"....

sigh.

I think the causes are much the same, though with a ghost it's often wishful thinking. It's nice to think the ghost of your cat is hanging around still, only this time not clawing the furniture.

When looking for Ghosts consider the 3 Rules/Laws of paronormal testing

1. Any unknown energy must convert to known energy to the detected.
2. There have been no scientific proved paranormal events.
3. Because of 2, any test to prove a paranormal event, it is beholden on the tester to prove the event from a base line of no scientific proved paranormal events.

This is probably in these 2 pages somewhere but in case it isn't:

There is a difference between seeing something real but misinterpreting what you are seeing, and a true hallucination.

If you look at something that isn't clear, your brain will interpret what it concludes the object is and actually change the image. Once you see the object is something else, you cannot recreate the image your brain first registered. Your brain literally interprets images before they appear in your conscious awareness.

The easiest example to see of this is the hidden blind spot we all have in the center of our retinas. You can make it appear, but usually the brain just fills it in with surrounding image, just like photoshop. So most 'ghost' sightings are misinterpreted images. And the interpretation is of a person or sometimes a dog or something, because it is the brain filling in the unseen details of some unclear thing for you.
