Split Thread ICE arrests mayor

Charges against the Newark mayor have been dropped.

However, separate charges are filed against Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) alleging she assaulted an ICE agent during the arrest of the mayor.
 
In defense of DHS official Tricia McLaughlin -- insisting that members of Congress and the Newark mayor assaulted and "bodyslammed" ICE officers even as Blackwell plays her video demonstrating that they in fact did not -- you can't see it on the CNN news video, but McLaughlin was making air-quotes with her fingers whenever she said "bodyslammed." ;)

So that makes it a joke? So the full legal accusation for the charges is that the congresswoman was the unknowing butt of a joke? Is it now illegal to be the butt of a joke??

Yea no one actually give a crap about other human beings, they are just doing it to make themselves look good. Certainly his mind control where he used sorcery to get them to illegally arrest him is just the icing on the cake.

I guess the best he could have planned to be arrested is know that all ICE are just violent goons who don't care about the law and so this is the predictable outcome, like how the police did not care about the paraplegic they arrested for kicking down someone's door(of course with no damage to said door). Cops are always going to violate your constitutional rights and he bet on that.

Are you actually going to deny that sometimes politicians running for office and are doing very poorly in the polls once in a while pull a stunt to get attention?

Wow. I had no idea that EVERY politician on Earth was soo benevolent. We might as well make it illegal to indict a sitting politician running for office because ALL such accusations are obviously false.

How does his desire to do so get the ICE agents to violate his rights? I mean I guess violating constitutional rights is what ICE is for after all so it is entirely predictable.

The thing is he didn't do anything that counts as a protest with the intent to get arrested.

What's visible on the video is that Rep. Mciver at one point briefly had her hand on an officer's shoulder. I had to go frame by frame to see it. All this happened while there was a press of people surrounding the mayor, Ms. McIver, and at least two ICE officers, one of whom was apparently effecting the arrest and trying to place the mayor in handcuffs. If that's the standard, then this scuffle should have resulted in a half dozen assault charges, including ones where the Congresswoman was the victim.

By surrounding the mayor as ICE tried to arrest him, they engaged in Obstruction of Justice OR obstruction of government administration, they are lucky they are not all charged.

Centrists telling uppity black folks to get in line is pretty on brand. "Sure, the process is violating human rights and reflecting the beginning of the worst atrocities of the 20th Century, but we must respect the tour guide. Getting out of line to stop the atrocities is a far worse crime."
