• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

I will challenge James Randi.

that 80% number is what someone has told me, they probably made it up, who knows. The 67% number is my observation. 2/3 accurate for the GOOD psychics that I have met. That has no scientific basis as no psychic I've ever met wants to do a test in a controlled enviornment.

That leaves myself. I can sometimes coincidentally guess what somebody is thinking. Its one thing to accurately guess a shape or a number but another to actually SEE something from someone's mind. Still, I have no idea how it works. I have observed that it works better when someone who I'm reading has an open mind, a calm mind, and actually believes I can read their mind. It also seems to help when I can make a "connection" to the person. It has worked over the internet, over the phone, by touch etc.

Can I do it in a laboratory? I doubt it. If I could read someone's mind on a moment's notice I'd be living alot better life than I am now. This is why I am doubting anyone who could just reproduce their special ability on the fly.

It often comes unexpectedly, a whispered sound, an image, or a feeling. You can't really measure feelings.
Thanks for responding.

So, your figures are anecdotal, and the only person you are sure can do it is you, but you can't do it in a laboratory?

That kind of evidence doesn't fly here very well.

Not much to discuss it seems.

杨建东, in my opinion, first of all you should demonstrate your mysterious ability to a doctor, preferably a psychiatrist. After you successfully show your ability to this doctor, ask him for a written statement describing your powers. This statement will greatly help you when you finally submit your application to the JREF. Good luck.

Will you introduce some doctor to me?

I can demonstrate my ability in a laboratory, in a controlled set. Will you please introduce me to some doctor?

I think you should consider contacting profesionals in your area who are willing to produce a notarized affidavit claiming to have witnessed your powers. Three would be a good number to find. Asking someone in a different continent to find you a doctor seems a bit pointless.

As admin.

It appears you have no interest in the Million Dollar Challenge therefore I am moving this thread to a more appropriate forum section "General Skepticism… ".

杨建东, I do not know any doctors in China. Can you make an appointment with a doctor in your area, through your health-care system? For these initial demonstrations, a laboratory would not be needed. The doctor’s office would be enough. Just make sure that he understands and witnesses your mysterious ability. He could then help you to meet other professionals. This way, it would be easier for you to collect three notarised written statements about your powers. Good luck.

Is he ? I was under the impression that he was on the contrary helping him. By that I mean a REAL expert help for (3 chinese characters).

I agree. As I pointed out before, the belief that others can hear one's thoughts is a classic symtom of schizophrenia. It might be beneficial to see a doctor.

Folks, 杨建东 is either truly ill, or a troll. This last post of "Will you please introduce me to some doctor?" leads me to think the latter.

Consider this - 杨建东 is apparently capable of:

1) Learning passible English - not the easiest language in the world to learn... but consider the following exerpt:

"IN fact, Millions of people have heard of my abiltiy in china, and thousands of people had ever percieved my thoughts, and nearly every time my neighbors could percieve my thoughts while they near by me. Who dare meet me and let me prove my ability to him and then challenge randi?"

Pretty darn sophisticated use of the language for there to be any kind of language barrier, I'd say.

2) Able to use the Internet, find this forum, and post his/her messages - some rather lengthy, I might add - with enough structure to ensure interest on our part

3) Discuss possible ways to "test" his/her abilities

If 杨建东 is capable of all of the above, why is there a problem with him/her finding a local psychiatrist? Why does s/he need someone else to find one for him/her?

Obviously, s/he understands the idea. So what's the problem?

Occam's Razor. I call Troll.

Seems to me all Mr. 杨建东 would have to do to demonstrate this power is stand near a scientist and the scientist would immediately perceive that this fellow is thinking "Why won't anyone recognize my special power?" What could be easier?

I agree

jmercer, I agree.

In my limited time here at JREF, I have read hundreds of posts. Some humorous, some serious, others just wacky. This is, I think, the first clear example for ME of someone who is trying to mess with us. Your rational and well written critique was right on the mark. I guess there are people out there that would do that, but it’s a bit disheartening.
It did at least serve one purpose, though, because I will now keep a sharper eye out for those that wish to deceive. A lesson well worth learning.

Just shows we are just as gullible as any normal humans.

We take idiots like this on some trust as we are careful not to be seen as “close minded” etc.

The real irony is.. this is someone trying to show HOW close minded we are.. yet they have had to use a ridiculous bogus telepath.. all this shows is they too realise (DEEP DOWN) how ridiculous paranormal claims really are …

I say our reaction to him was OK. We let him talk until he incriminated himself and showed what sort of person he was. Nothing gullible about that. This is one good way to find out if someone is telling the truth.

Yes we could have said 'go away' however we had no proof of who he was. Now we do.

I was going to report him, but cannot find a rule he has broken. No rule that says you cannot be a troll, or post false statements.

At TAM1, there was a copy of a typical "application" sent to JREF in the conference folder. I have never seen such gibberish in my life.

Seeing that made me realize just what level of stupidity and credulity we are up against.

Do you guys know if the application data is confidential? Would it be possible to obtain that data for a study? It occurs to me that there could be some very interesting things to explore.

And to think I remember you when you were a warm-hearted, open-minded, seeker-of-knowledge.

Now, well, you are becoming a closed-minded, paradigm defending, cynical, hyper-critical, fudge-head. Next thing we know you'll be moving to Denmark and changing your name to cfmercer. :D
