I Love President Oblama Xmas Tree Poutrage

...the official 2011 Capitol Christmas Tree includes a prominently displayed ornament paying homage to President Barack Obama, but includes no ornament readily visible to a person standing near the tree's base that uses the word “Christmas,” or includes an image of the Nativity, or bears the name or image of Jesus Christ.

When asked whether the tree included any ornaments that mention or depict Christmas or the birth of Jesus, the office of the Architect of the Capitol, which is responsible for the tree, told CNSNews.com that it “does not have a policy nor any restrictions concerning the themes for the ornaments” that go on the tree. The office could not say, however, whether or not this year’s Christmas tree does in fact include even a single ornament that directly references or depicts Christmas or Christ.

The USA needs to chill the **** out about christmas. Just because there's nothing praising Jesus on a christmas three it doesn't mean the end of the world.

Is it common in the USA, anyway, to put Christian symbols on the christmas tree?

There are two things at play here.

First, to address your question, yes, it's common for some to decorate trees with religious symbols and no, the origin of "Christmas" trees doesn't faze them as in their mind, everything can/should be interpreted through their religious beliefs. I'll point you to Tim Tebow as just one example.

Second, and more germane to the complaint in the OP, to them and many others, everything Obama does is wrong.

On another forum, I heard a great line.

"Modern conservatism is the opposite of what liberals want, updated daily."

So true.

If anything the tree should be praising Saturn. What the Heck America!

Ok, so combining this quote

and the picture of the ornament from the article, here is what I conclude:

The ornaments are made and sent in by Americans (probably children) to be displayed on the tree.

If you think that a Christmas tree needs to have displays of baby Jesus on the ornaments, then organize your kid's class to make a batch of ornaments and make sure that your kid includes Jesus.

Also, as the other quote from Ryokan mentions, there is a figure of Jesus at the base of the tree.

These people need to get over themselves and pull those poles out of their asses.

Once again CSN bravely covers the stories that the liberal media ignores and their faithful readerships ads the dumbest, racist and most hatful comments on to the end.

Children have a liberal bias. They believe in Santa Claus and therefore they support the idea of something for nothing. Damn commie pinko kids. We ought to lock them up. Or at least send them to bed without any dinner. And would someone, anyone, for the love of baby jesus and the virgin mother please put a cap in the ass of that Jolly ol' socialist St. Nick?

Newt was right, stop with the codeling and send any kid who isn't self sufficient like rich kids are to clean toilets. That will end this kind of liberal nonsense.

See this CNS news story for a good XMas laugh at Obama derangement syndrome.

I got a good chuckle out of CNS getting outraged by an ornament that lauds "Oblama" and then deems that the tree is a homage to Obama. One ornament among hundreds! Funny stuff!

<expletive deleted> conservatives REALLY need to grow up.

I'm wondering what their version of "prominently displayed" means. Dollars to donuts the ornament in question is about 2" in diameter, about 30 feet up in the tree visible only with binoculars.

:D

I love you, dude.

:)

The ironic part of it all is that all the article proves is that some kid in California finds the idea of having a man like Obama for POTUS is worth celebrating. They also include a picture and some serious column space to a clearly religious ornament.

Dudes! Stop spiking the eggnog during business hours.

Jeez, a bunch of kiddies decorate recycled paper and tin plates with the images they associate with Christmas. One of 'em, at minimum, associates his tree ornaments with a Psalm. That's probably about the ratio I'd get amongst all the friends I've ever had - one bible thumper who thinks that a tree ornament should be holy holy. I can remember people having a manger scene under the tree, but cannot honestly recall any religious ornaments. (And I've got 62 years of Christmas tree decorating experience behind me.)

Do they really think there's an atheo-communist-muslim big boss man behind the White House groundskeepers with a whip saying, "And don't put anything up there that Barack The Red wouldn't approve of!" If you've ever done your fifth Christmas tree in four days, you'll know that when it comes to decorating them it gets tiring and at a certain point you're just filling in the gaps between the lights and/or branches.

"Oh, look, Ed. It's a bronzed meadow muffin. I don't think we ought to put it on the tree."
"Who cares. Put it up there. It's big and it fills in a lot of space."

These clones would find something to complain about in anything associated with anyone to the left of Atila the Hun. And their reporting reminds me of the sincere efforts of a bunch of high school kids - just trying to do it like the grown-ups, eliciting responses from people who all basically tell 'em, "Say what? It's a tree and a bunch of ornaments, dude. No one gave it a second thought."
