I consider myself corrected

Well, I was recently corrected on a point skeptics frequently make. I was saying that I couldn't understand how people could get so worked up about cryptids like the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, Champ and so forth when any number of fish, animals and insects found in the same places offer equally if not more amazing grist for our mental mill. I then smugly looked at my born again Christian brother for a response.

This is what I got: "No, a dinosaur swimming around in a present day lake would be far more exciting than any fish."

Incidentally, my brother doesn't think there's much chance these cryptids exist either, he just sees clearer than I do sometimes.

I'd have to agree with him. While I think most (if not all) cryptids are bunk, it would be fascinating to find that some of these beings actually exist.
