Thanks, GreyIce.... So the answer is that they have to keep identifying this year's model (apologies to Elvis Costello) fast enough to produce this year's vaccine. Not real promising.

Yeah, the CDC also states that that whopping 70/90% efficacy goes down to 20/30% if the particular strain hasn't been identified or if they're fighting Influenza Like Illness (ILI), a euphemism for the kind of situation we face every year.

And sorry for the derail, Rolfe. It was meant to be on-topic, originally. Didn't mean to get into a bird flu/vaccination discussion.
