I am now getting Ron Paul SPAM.

Just like typical spam...

Came from Eastern Europe. Addressed me by the wrong given name. Not all spelled correctly.

He's gonna make a lot of friends that way!

I would have a hard time believing that anyone high up in a presidential campaign would decide that spam is the best way to get the message out. It is far more likely that a competitor (or general troll) is sending out the spam in such a way as to make it appear that Ron Paul approves of spam.

In the bidness this is known as a "Joe Job".

Not unlike those silly Democrats who set up a phone calling campaign to inform Black voters that Kerry is for gay marriage in the 2004 election ...

Could be Oliver.

While we're at it...
Excuse me, what was your e-mail address again?

Oh, and I doubt the Ron Paul and his campaign crew has something
to do with it ... Even the Ron Paul Supporters complain about this BS...

You mean Republicans? Or did I miss an amusing story?

Absolutely. It was a Republican dirty trick (what other kind of trick is there in politics?) that tried to make it sound like a Democrat phone promotion. The real "dirty" part of this is that it targeted blacks (who as a group at the time were very much against same-sex marriage), and Kerry was also against same-sex marriage.

Another good example of what Republicans consider "fair" politics is hiring a bunch of flaming gay men in Florida to help "support" Kerry on his same-sex marriage position.

No matter how the low the Republicans reach in order to retain power, there is a certain group that will always vote for them no matter what and another group of fence sitters who are very capable of being sucked into the BS.

What is the difference between Republicans and Democrats these days? Is it as tenuous as the divide between New Labour and Conservatives?

A plague on both their houses, say I.

Vote "Rational Anarchist" (Or possibly Rabid antichrist, I don't think it matters much).

Just about the same (non) difference as your seeing in the main two UK parties. Correct.

If the political spectrum is as a one metre measure, with Pol Pot and Trotsky over on the far left and then Atilla and Adolf over on the extreme right, then the Democrats and Republicans would be just a little to the right of the half-metre mark, separated by about .25 cm ! Move about .25 cm more to the right and you get Ron Paul.

It is called the Big Lie technique. Totalitarians just LOVE it.

What scares me are people who believe that ONE party is above playing dirty tricks.

That just means they approve of the dirty tricks that THEIR party play.

Just goes to show how disingenuous, or ignorant, some people are, especially when politics are involved.

If ever there's a candidate that SHOULD distance himself from his most rabid supporters, Ron Paul is that candidate.

But he supports their tactics, and rhetoric.

I wouldn't vote for him anyways, but with his ronbots ruining websites and now email, I'm actively rooting for "Anybody but Ron".

Perhaps this should be a separate thread, but anyway; I'd like to understand why Ron Paul seems to appeal to some Europeans. The only positive point I see in him is to get out of Iraq. Otherwise, to me, he's just another Texas crazy. So: what's the appeal? Inquiring minds, etc.
