The last news I heard was that they build this resistance in Iraq - using payed forces. Isn't this ironic and furthermore a completely "War on Terror" disaster in terms of focusing the threat where it came from?

I was shifting to Iraq because finally there are Terrorists from AQ there now - after they had nothing to do with Al Qaida. Now they have.

For me to answer your question you'd first have to define what you mean by "'War on Terror' hype." Otherwise you're leaving me to discern for myself what you mean by it, and that may be an entirely different interpretation than the one you're intending.

Funny. That's how I KNOW they aren't much of a threat. If the worst the can do is hijack some planes and crash them into buildings, then we're in the clear. 9/11 was a display of their tenacity, but it was always a display of their sheer weakness.

I can't define it for you since you have to define it the way your Media and Politicians tell the story about the alleged threat. From what I can tell is that our Media doesn't tell this threat any longer and so do Politicians not scare anyone about it. They also don't promote any "War on Terror" phrases to gain political support and voters.

The last presidential debate showed that at least the democrats do exactly this: Playing with fears to gain support.

No, Oliver, you're the one who's drawn the dumb conclusion that there aren't other ways to pull off spectacular terrorist attacks. The first attack on the World Trade Center didn't use airplanes at all - it was incompetently executed, but that's no guarantee something like that couldn't happen in the future (and if it had succeeded, it would have killed a lot more than 3,000 people). And you don't have to storm the cockpit to kill everyone on board a plane either.

The TSA was responsible to help installing bullet-proof, secure Cockpit Doors. So no, they can't pull it off anymore. Everything else from political side is exaggeration to scare you.

Also all Tools were available to avoid 9/11. But they were ignored. But the point is that they were there - so there is no need to improve anything like they want to tell you. Patriot Act, HSL act, Military Commision Act, Wiretapping and so on were completely unnecessary.

I don't think they are a threat in central Europe. And even if, I don't consider them as a national threat with their small, local capabilities.

So you prefer to believe your politicians, give up freedoms and support anyone who's scaring you about terrorism? This is indeed naive. Terrorism may not be as much recognized than before 9/11, but this is the price for wealth and foreign policies. No extraordinary News at all - at least to everywhere outside the US.
