WASHINGTON (AFP) — Republican presidential hopeful and former Baptist pastor Mike Huckabee linked gay sex to bestiality and abortion to slavery in an interview Thursday, explaining why, if elected, he would try to amend the constitution.

"Marriage has ... as long as there's been human history, meant a man and a woman in a relationship for life. Once we change that definition, then where does it go from there?" he asked in an interview with online "Beliefnet" magazine.

"Well, I don't think that's a radical view, to say we're going to affirm marriage. I think the radical view is to say that we're going to change the definition of marriage so that it can mean two men, two women, a man and three women, a man and a child, a man and animal," he added.

"The Bible was not written to be amended. The Constitution was," he said, announcing his intention to amend the document if he were to be elected president in November to ban abortion and establish that life begins at the moment of conception.

What exactly do gay people do that leads to abortion? Stand around looking smug in a way that encourages straights to be irresponsible or something?

If I were a Democrat I would really,really,hope for Huckabee to win the Nomination. The way he is going,he would be fish in a barrel.

It's been amended, re-written, "interpreted", with portions put in and taken out and so on.

Uh, does this mean that he's going to outlaw divorce too? Last I heard divorce was a fairly common occurrence. Or does it mean that marriages which end in divorce will be retroactively called something else?

Yes, this strikes me as one of the more disgusting lies that some religious folks promulgate. Unless, Huckabee is without curiosity, at sometime he must have looked into how the bible came to be and with only the slightest investigative effort he would have found that the bible has been modified throughout much of its existence and that there are many different versions that exist that have substantive differences.

And I agree that the one Republican candidate that would almost guarantee a Democratic victory would be Huckabee.

I think Mike the Huckster conveniently overlooks the habits, in human history, of many a king or sultan having multiple wives, or suitable substitutes thereof.

And that's what Huckabee is all about - the children. There are right now confused gay children who don't know how evil they are for being born gay and need Huckabee's amendment to drive home the point for them.
 
It's easy to laugh at the illogicals and silliness that come out of Huckabee's mouth, but frankly the guy kind of scares me. For him to win even one state's caucus is a sad commentary on the US voting public.

We can never underestimate the power of delusional god-boy talk and the US citizens who choose their leaders ...

He said the the defination of marriage is a man and woman being together FOREVER.

Wacky fundamentalists make me laugh outside of office, but the have the adverse effect when they actually aquire elected office.
