How soon before this natural disaster becomes a conspiracy?

On the 30th of September, the volcano Jabal Al'tair in the Red Sea erupted and a multi-national NATO task-force became involved in the rescue of several Yemeni Soldiers. (PDF Version)

The eruption took place at a strategic location in the Red Sea and is still ongoing. Given the fact that the Boxing Day Tsunami/Earthquake was taken up by at least one conspiracy theorist, how soon do you think it's going to take for this event to be woven into some convoluted plot? (If it has not already been done so.)

In light of the well documented lunacy of the tinhat crowd, I would guess within 10 seconds of one of them becoming aware of it and firing up his/her computer.

Don't you think it plays into CTist's hands somewhat when you demonstrate that you believe they'll try to generate a CT from just about everything (even if they do!)? Does it not really only serve to dilute and detract from genuine refutations of actual CTs? Why not, instead, simply wait for the CTs to emerge then politely show them the light. I don't think this strategy will pre-empt the CTs, nor will it serve to counter them if and when they emerge. On the contrary. It just provides the CTists with some justification to assert that sceptics are all too eager to pre-judge. Why supply them with ammunition for them to retaliate with?

Good point. One thing that always surprises me are the length of some strings about absolute nonesense, with members earnestly trying to convince idiots of their misapprehensions (I believe swearing is a no no otherwise I could say bull shift). George Corndog is a good example.

The OP refers to the "Boxing day" (26 Dec?) quake and tsunami, several years ago. Isn't it the case that, in fact, there were a great number of conspiracy theories built around that event? To the effect that US/ Indian/ Israeli nuclear weapons or tests had been behind... uh, underneath... well, you get it.

^*For those that can't see them, the Ozzie flag (which was designed after the NZ one and is therefore the copy) has 5 white coloured eight-pointed stars forming the southern cross and a single large white star under the union jack as opposed to the NZ flag which has only 4 red coloured five-pointed stars each with a white border forming the southern cross.

As a glutton for punishment I checked out GLP, only two long threads, one from someone claiming to be Nancy Leider, which claimed that the Zetas told her about this ahead of time!

Second one starts off as a 'Wow look at that' thread but about three pages in people start talking about nukes, and in turn pointed me to a site called whatdoesitmean.com and this article by one Sorcha Faal.

The Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation today ordered a ‘high alert’ status after a ‘suspected’ nuclear device was reported to have detonated in the Red Sea on an island controlled by US Military and Yemeni military forces and used for interrogating American war on terror detainees.

I'd love to see her sources for that, I really would...
