How much time do we really have?

Thanks for taking the trouble to do that, Brian-M. It's beyond stupid that anyone should have to, but there we are.

I'd just add that this one:

is also a 50/50 chance. They either would or wouldn't re-enter Mecca. Again, this is not even slightly impressive a prediction.

mikeb768......what would impress us much more would be a list of as-yet-unfulfilled predictions, which we could then tick off as they happened. Any chance of that list?

And what about a list of those predictions which have turned out to be outright failures? Don't suppose you have that to hand, do you?

Unfulfilled predictions are in Yellow/Orange

Can you specify which of the predictions do you believe to have been outright failures?

I am the one you have been waiting for. Now behave and stop believing. It makes you a wiser one....

I will say no more.

Is that proof enough?

And, as Brian-M pointed out, the Companions each had versions of the Qur'an that differed from each other, which is why 'Uthman had to codify a definitive version and order all the variant copies to be burned.

And even then, there were still variances in the text, since, as you say, it was all about recitation, and there were a number of different "recitations", or Qira'at.
.
As I've mentioned, the "recitations" are nothing more than the Companions "recalling" What Will We Say Mohammed Would Have Said"..
WWWSMWHS"... :)
Uthman burned those that disagreed with his recollections..

No. He had a text and he destroyed other texts that differed from his chosen one.

The Sunni and Shia views are not so different regarding the Mahdi, while the Shias may have a more elaborate background story, both groups agree on many other aspects of his coming. This is something which is not actually considered to be one of the Major Signs although his coming is said to take place around the same period as the emergence of the Anti Christ and also spans over the time period during which Jesus will return.
Not trying to get involved in heresy here, in any religion, but what you just posted leads one to pose the following question:
is the Mahdi and the Returned Christ deemed to be the same person in either Shia or Sunni apocalyptica?
Good question, and way to stay on topic!
Being as helpful as I can, Tyrael. :D

No they are two separate people in both Sunni ans Shia Islam.
Although you will often hear Christians make the Claim that the Muslim's Mahdi is the Christian Anti Christ, to which I can only lol.

Tyrael who? Only kidding. Yes, D3 is a great game, although unfortunately I rarely have the time.

It makes no difference - it's all a load. Just guys who were either looking to influence people for some reason or guys who were nuts. That's it, that is the waste you dedicate your life to (if your posts have any truth (by your standards) in them).

[Quran 6:158]
"Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting.""

Can anyone be saved who isn't Muslim, Christian or Jewish?

To the question of how much time do we have left, my understanding is that water on the surface is only expected to last another .5-1B years, which would be tough to overcome for terrestrial life. For humans specifically, it's harder to predict, but the middle 90% principle doesn't bode well for us. See the section starting with "Things get weird" http://what-if.xkcd.com/65/

Although we believe that no one besides God alone can say who will end up where, there are believed to be different categories which people can be grouped into. Who will be saved and who will enter into Hell?
That fella in the video could be hired to teach Catholic doctrine.
He has profound difficulty in getting to the point.
Maybe I just have a short attention span, or maybe I worship the false god of Pith.

Brevity is next to Godliness?

I concur.

This maybe something which is difficult to understand for someone who is unaware of the fact that the Quran literally means the "the recitation", so just like it is memorized by heart today by people of all ages, it was both circulation and memorized by heart by many of his followers during the life of the prophet.

As can be seen here "Koran by Heart"

And although the exact chronological order is something which is not agreed upon, we have a good understanding of when and where certain verses were revealed and the impacts which they had on the people and even society at large. Link

Calling it the recitation and it actually being a recitation are not the same thing.

Quoting verses to people who think your book is just made up nonsense is not particularly persuasive.

Same thing.
Not necessarily. I was referring to this

then it is relevant that there was an early text, which might have curbed the inventiveness that you ascribe to these companions. And I wasn't sure what you meant by
Uthman burned those that disagreed with his recollections.
Did you mean his own recollections? Or some text containing the recollections also of other Companions?
