Terminate what?

If it's terminate sexual intercourse during a pregnancy, I'd say right up to the bitter, messy end.

If it's terminating drinking during pregnancy, much sooner.

Depends on whether or not I like the person you're talking about. We need a little retrospection sometimes.

Whenever it's practical. I wouldn't have any copious ethical problems with even 1 year after birth, but I suspect that might cause some emotional issues. So, given adequate decision-making time, up to whenever an early birth would reasonably be given a good prognosis seems like as good a cutoff point as any.

when you mean by 1, 2, or 3 years, do you mean giving up the baby for adoption? (assuming that is what we are talking about...pregnancy and abortion) And if that is what we're talking about then where's the "Never" option or "Timing is irrelevant. It only depends on the health of the mother or the fetus."

I did vote for 24 weeks, but now I regret that answer. In reality, it should be totally between a woman and her doctor. By putting an arbitrary time on abortion, it influences any health based decisions that must be made.

Can we do this poll over to cover all timeframes excepting the silly post-birth ones?

Dear bigred,

Why are post-birth timeframes silly? If you're down with infanticide, why wouldn't doing so, "a little late," be a problem for you? Squeamish at the sight of blood?

I no longer own a uterus, so I no longer have an opinion on this, because I've never been really keen on telling other women how they must decide this issue for themselves.

For me, that's how it works: not my uterus, none of my business.

Sorry, I made the mistake of thinking this was a legit attempt at discussing the topic. My bad. Probably should be moved to the "Community" area though.

12 is too few and 24 too many.

Amillia Taylor was born at the age of 22 weeks and six days, weighing only 10 oz.. She's the youngest known survivor if the article is correct.

If a woman just wants to end a pregnancy, 20 weeks might be a reasonable cutoff.

Between 20 weeks and maybe 24 weeks, the physician and patient should still be able to make reasonable decisions without interference. For example a rape or incest victim deserves a patient doctor decision, not a government in your bedroom decision.

After 24 weeks, if an abortion is needed for the health of the mother, unless it isn't safe, the child should be delivered and resuscitated. That usually means a C-section which is why I say unless it isn't safe.

These should be medically guided decisions, not socially engineered by legal means decisions.
