How Is Obamania Like AIDS?

Why haven't you or Pookster answered any of my questions?
You both are talking like you already have the answers.
I wonder why that is?

Gosh.

Golly gee willikers. I've already told you why several times now. Lets see if it sinks in this time ...

"Because its irrelevant to my discerning what the worst cognitive dissonance you'd ever seen was."

Again, there are Dems, Pubs and Indies who are pro-impeachment, for example.

All ducks are birds.
Not all birds are ducks.

There are progressives who aren't aligned with Chomsky or homemaker Cindy Sheehan.

Which progressives are you referring to?

That "homemaker Cindy Sheehan" bit made me laugh. Sheehan's not famous because she's a homemaker.

There are "progressives" that believe in the continuation of the war, or at least in the FISA act (Obama you are guilty).

Do a Google search for Obama + progressive. There's some serious controversy over that one.
Many progressives are very critical of Obama.

This answer is nonsensical given that you keep referring to their support of Kerry and Obama for your reason.

Kerry, Obama, among others.
See Michael Moore's recent Rolling Stone piece: How The Democrats Can Blow It ...In Six Easy Steps.

Sucking up to the Republicans isn't a winning strategy.

Because they were irrelevant to my discerning what the worst cognitive dissonance you'd ever seen was.

But it is relevant to my discerning of what your argument is. I'm beginning to think you don't have one.

Please read Michael Moore's essay. He says it a lot better than I could.

Sure. But you, yourself, have given me at least two different definitions. Why can't MoveOn have one of its own too? Do they need a permission slip from someone?

I only gave you one. This is the first time I've heard somebody try to claim that those positions aren't progressive, by the way.

Kerry, Obama, among others. ...

So when you said "no", you really meant "yes"?

But it is relevant to my discerning of what your argument is. I'm beginning to think you don't have one.

I don't have an argument ... yet. So far, I've been trying to discern what the worst cognitive dissonance you'd ever seen was. It's been like pulling teeth to get you to explain yourself in a lucid way regarding this.

You gave me two. You quoted one from wiki, then gave me your own version. I still don't know which one you want to go with. I haven't made any statement regarding whether those positions aren't progressive either.

Democrats get corralled into voting for politicians they disagree with, just because that person is "less worse than" the Republican. Arguments over candidates turn into splitting hairs.

Progressives trying to support a party that doesn't support them.
MoveOn trying to pretend it's a grassroots, progressive movement, when none of its candidates are from the progressive wing of the party.
That's cognitive dissonance.
I don't know how much clearer I can make it.

Okay, is the definition of "progressives" that you want to go with the one you linked to from wiki?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressivism#Liberalism

... American progressives tend to support interventionist economics: they advocate income redistribution, and they oppose the growing influence of corporations. Conversely, European and Australian progressives tend to be more pro-business, and will often have policies that are soft on taxation of large corporations. Progressives are in agreement on an international scale with left-liberalism in that they support organized labor and trade unions, they usually wish to introduce a living wage, and they often support the creation of a universal health care system. Yet progressives tend to be more concerned with environmentalism than mainstream liberals, and are often more skeptical of the government, positioning themselves as whistleblowers and advocates of governmental reform. Finally, liberals are more likely to support the Democratic Party in America and the Labour party in Europe and Australia, while progressives tend to feel disillusioned with any two-party system, and vote more often for third-party candidates.

They seem to be rather loose with their definition, recognizing that beliefs and stances aren't always the same. Or, are you going with your own narrow definition that you stated earlier ...

You know, those people who want universal health care, bringing the troops home (instead of redeployment), pro-impeachment, etc. etc. (e.g. Cindy Sheehan, Kucinich, Noam Chomsky, Norman Soloman, et al)

Wiki seems to recognize that not all progressives believe the same exact things, as indicate in the bolding I did above. Is the wiki definition you linked to wrong?

Another deflecting question.

Quid pro quo, partner. You have to put out a little before you receive.

I've asked you perfectly reasonable questions, you've replied with the same post 3 times, and I'm the one who's deflecting?

Did you choose that avatar because it reflects your argument style?

Sure, I'll try your style of argument:

What was so reasonable about your questions?
