And yet when I asked to be treated, and allowed to behave, like that, because my invisible sociopath in the sky tells be so, people seem to think there’s something wrong with me. What gives?everyone carries them around in a chair, and they often have a big funny hat and spout rubbish in Latin.

Maybe they can be asked to perform a number of Pope related tasks, like trying to convert people, or covering up scandals in the church. perhaps Gudnerscored himself could judge, each week eliminating the weakest would be pontiff, condemning him to eternal torment, with the lovable catchphrase "you're dammed".Coming soon to a television set near you.... "Vatican Idol".
Each week, one of the contenders gets voted off, until the last one standing takes the crown, I mean, hat. Or, whatever it is he wears.
... with the lovable catchphrase "you're dammed".

True, we wouldn't want to debase the dignity of the Holy Mother Chruch, would we?Please. "Anathema sit!" has a much better ring to it.
So Ynot got it just about right. Except for the spelling ( as any Thomist kno, it's " Eeny, Meeny...")
Regards

Actually, I think it's formally referred to as a "tiara".
A papal tiara hasn't been used since Vatican II (although you still see one on the Vatican's flag). Nowadays popes just wear a bishop's mitre.
Sometimes it seems that the point of Vatican II was to suck the fun out of Catholicism.

Apparently, not very carefully.
The usual - campaigning, politics, concession swaps, favors extended and claimed, extortion, blackmail.
I doubt that there's much fraud, though - isn't that nice?
