Hi Gang,

My question is how do I record streaming video.
There are a couple of Randi clips that I want to save to my HD but they are in streaming video only.

Thank you,
Yair

Not through normal means (normal windows tools/applications).
I have heard there are some programs out there who can capture/record streaming but I have never actually used one.

Do you mean youtube or actual streaming as in Real Media or Windows Media streaming?

I use a firefox plugin, but there are some sites that do it pretty easily for sites like youtube and metacafe and google video

Can you give us an example of a video clip that you're unable to save to your HD?

Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's not. When I saved a clip from Uri Geller's site to my computer I had to check the html code of the page to find a URL for the file, then open that file in a media player, save it, and then view it in another media player. It was a long time ago, so I don't remember the exact details, but I'm pretty sure that the media player I used do download the file couldn't show the video, and the media player I used to view it couldn't download it.

If you're talking about videos on youtube, there's something called "youtube downloader" that I'm guessing will do exactly what you want, but I haven't tried it myself.

OK, I don't know how to do that, but I tried to google for "download video" (without the quotation marks), and it seems that there are lots of web pages that tell you the answer. Several people seem to have written programs that can download videos from e.g. Youtube and Google Video.

Go to the snapfiles.com site then to freeware then search within this for youtube. Then take your pick. HTH

Thank you all.
I have managed to download the streaming video and convert them to mpeg and avi as I needed.

Thanks again,
Yair

If you use Firefox, use the OokVideoOok extension to grab the files, then use SUPER to convert them to any format you want.
