How did you first learn about 9/11 conspiracy theories?

Around the 6th anniversary of the attacks i was channel surfing, and i got to the history channel and they were airing "9/11 conspiracy: fact or fiction". Then after i watched that i did my own research and Mark Roberts website wtc7lies (which is a very good website btw). Helped out alot. I researched every single detail on both sides. Through my own research i was able to confirm that 9/11 conspiracy theories are either flat out lies or misinterpretation of available facts.

First exposure was probably, like alot of folk, a viral e-mail of the 'where are the wings?' Thierry Meyssan nonsense. After that I came across it in general chat on various forums I frequent. Not long after that I came across this place and the likes of screwloosechange.

I came across that idiot Holmgren (sp?) on the UK Indymedia boards.

It's been pointed out to you before, but you really should be posting this sort of thing in the general discussion thread found here:

I saw some guy named Mark Roberts on Youtube screaming at a bunch of people down at groundzero and tried to figure out what it was all about. I then found some googlepages site where he claims to debunk all these theories I had never even heard about up until then.

Then I was convinced.

There just has got to be more to 9/11 then what we are being told. Because this guy Roberts can't seem to debunk any of it.

Roberts didn't need to debunk anything. His research did it for him. The rest is self debunking,

72. Please rank these "debunkers" according to how effective their opposition to the TM has been, most effective to least

1) debunking911.com 21%
2) Popular Mechanics book & article 11%
3) JREF/Mark Roberts 30%
4) Screw Loose Change Blog 17%
5) 911myths.com 20%
6) Other: Nist FAQ, 1%

I first heard of the 'no plane at the Pentagon' nonsense on USENET some years back. It was soon followed by the 'HUGE POOLS OF MOLTEN STEEL' insanity. Most of it was pretty much in the mega-whacko crowd of alt.conspiracy x-posted to groups I was in. The lunatics tried to penetrate other groups with their insanity outside of the alt ghetto but it was failure after failure. The CTers were prone to some really spectacular meltdowns and tantrums on the unmoderated world of USENET.

No, I don't miss it.

My brother in law from Massachusetts (who is a staunch republican) was visiting GZ and "got into it" with steven jones on 9/11/2006. When he got home he called me and told me about the nuts at gz. I googled a bit and found that the developmentally disabled can actually post conspiracy theories on the interwebs.

I saw real dumb as dirt ideas spewed about 911 topics just like the post of HI. However they did not pick on people like HI and I did.

It was a study of how people like HI can lack knowledge and fail to understand 911. I was interested in how ignorance is manifested in those who fail to think for themselves.

The dirt dumb delusion intrigued me. How can people have ideas that expose their complete ignorance on a broad range of topics related to 911?

On 9/11/01 I was a recovering creduloid. I knew that day that some idiots would say it was a controlled demolition. Then the wing-ding thing and the Jews were alerted thing came out and I knew that there would be no stopping these fools. Don't forget about the folded up dollar thing and the Nostradamus crap.

Coast-to-Coast AM...right between the UFO's and Bigfoot :)

One of my friends is rather less than sceptical when it comes to things which he already believes in or suspects.

We have several weekly arguments whenever he's not ignoring me.

I became aware of 9/11 cospiracies in the first few months immediatly after 9/11. There was a French CT that popped up amonth or so afterward and than others quickly followed.

9/11 CTs are what led me here. I soon became a skeptic and an active atheist.
