Cont: House Impeachment Inquiry - part 3

There is nothing in Article II of the Constitution that grants the president absolute power. I find it troubling that Trump would even say it does. He is a chief executive not a king. When he says the Constitution gives him powers that "nobody has ever seen before," what the hell is he talking about? Nobody has ever seen before?

We've certainly never seen a president that was even remotely like Trump before, I'll agree to that.

Trump is understandable, his pathologic narcissism excesses are a clear pattern.

What is worse is the number of Republicans that blindly support this cult leader.

Update on the Pompeo interview. The State Department has released a statement (image in link). In it, Pompeo implies that Mary Louise Kelly misidentified Bangladesh as Ukraine.

This is very clearly a bad lie. Kelly has a masters in European studies. She definitely did not think that Ukraine was just off the Southern border of China.

It is also worth noting that this is not a statement from Mike Pompeo himself. It is a statement from The State Department, with the official seal and everything. This is how bad the White House has been corrupted under this administration. Make sure you're registered to vote.

Don't like the real world, no worries, just lie.

Maybe it is Pompeo that had the two countries mixed up and he doesn't realize it.

You'd think they'd at least try to be credible. Apparently not.

Mr. secretary, Mary Louise Kelly's 'agenda' as you call it, is to hold public officials accountable for the actions they take while in public office. Read the 4th Amendment.

If that's really where the statement ended, it seems to be a trick to avoid a libel charge. He never said she messed the country identity up.

I suspect that none of the Americans who work in the State Department were involved in this release. It was almost certainly one of Pompeo's people who put it out.

Why is anyone surprised? It's all you can expect from their kind. He's Trumptrash of the highest order, you can't expect patriotism or honesty from them.

I'm pretty sure GOP stands for Gaslighting Old Phoneys.

What fools these mortals be.

Before this trial is over, that will be a smear on the Democrats, not the Republicans.

If they say something along the lines of "He sold out the country" it might work.
The trial is over. America has tuned out. They may vote for Trump, but now they are at Red Robin for their weekend meal and then they will go SHOPPING!

Cruz is pretty much done. He will be replaced by post Trump republicans. By 2024 we will have all new boys from both parties.

For now, to 2021 he has to keep some status but I predict he will fight democrats a bit and then soon be forgotten.

I know. They should saying something like

Tiny hands Trump is a very bad man. A very, very bad man. That's what I heard people are saying. A man in the street stopped me yesterday. He said "Sir, you have to get rid of tiny hands Trump. He is a very, very bad president. The worst ever. Our war fighters are all saying this too. Please, Sir, read the transcript."

Gaslighting Our Party.

I like that too. that would probably require a comma though. As in

Gaslighting, our party.

Otherwise is seems to suggest they are gaslighting the party and not the public. We should keep working on it.

The Constitution kinda does...It vests ALL executive power in the president. It doesn't even say it is limited like the legislative power given to Congress. As executive power goes, the Constitutional grant is absolute.
Article 1 - "All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress . . . .

These legislative powers are enumerated in Article 1.

Article 2 - "The executive Power shall be vested in a President . . . .

Executive powers are enumerated in Article 2.

I'm not sure the word "all" in Article 1 and the word "The" in Article 2 and the powers enumerated respectively can be interpreted as granting absolute executive power, unless you can enlighten me.

Court precedents might be helpful, too.

I hope you appreciate the fine reading of the Constitution that this post rests on.

One uses the word "herein". Those are enumerated. The executive power is simply vested. While it does contain additional information, it isn't enumerated power.

I think of it as the President having absolute power, within the boundaries of the office laid out by the Constitution.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if anyone here cares what you think.

We're far more concerned with what Trump thinks.
