horrifying attack on Jussie Smollett

What they need is more cops on the job. Approximately a full man-year of effort is nowhere near enough for a scratch under the eye and a case that has produced no evidence whatsoever in over two weeks.

It's right in the middle of the sidewalk...

How can it have been there the whole time?
It probably wouldn't have been there since the incident. But who would see that bottle in the middle of the sidewalk and say, "Hey, this might be related to the Smollett attack."? Then they pick it up and sniff and wow it smells like bleach? Then they put it back down on the sidewalk and call the police to come check it out and photograph it?

A reporter who needed a story?

I wonder who those "personal contacts or high-profile individuals not relevant to the attack" are. They're so personal and "high profile" that they can't be revealed to the Chicago Police.

Underage ?
Drug dealers ?
ISIS contacts ?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Would it be illegal for anyone to plant a bottle with a bit of bleach in the middle of the sidewalk right where the attack scene was supposed to occur? Would it only be a citation for littering or would it be a bigger crime?

I imagine that it would invoke a charge of tampering with an ongoing investigation, or similar. There's no question in my mind that the bottle was planted, either by a reporter or by one of Smollett's dwindling band of supporters.

That's why I want to know if this bottle was found in a camera "dead zone".

I think if it's in a dead zone, it will be too convenient.

Of course, there's really no way at all to determine if the bottle is connected to anything, unless the bottle was caught on video at some point.

You aren't likely to get any fingerprints, or be able to say the "substance" matches anything in particular.

IMO, even if Smollett was attacked as he said, and that is the bottle, you'll never be able to match it up.

Sweatshirt contains bleach and traces of habanero pepper. Bottle contains bleach and traces of habanero pepper.

The FBI could do that with detailed chemical analysis.
