horrifying attack on Jussie Smollett

Yes. Many of them look like they were punishment for a crime. Disproportionate, excessive, brutal, vigilante, etc. punishment. But they were in response to a crime that was committed. Very few of them were lynched "just because"

I mean, this does sound pretty truthy, but is it actually true? For one thing, there's false accusations that resulted in lynchings. And I'm sure there must have been lynchings for things like the "crime" of "walking while black". What do you think the actual stats are?

Also, this seems like a weird position to want to argue, regardless of whether it's true.

They didn't take his wallet, so not a robbery.
Mouths watering for his sandwich, so very slobbery.
But they found it too cold,
For a beating so bold,
So vanished with fair-weather snobbery.

awkward first limerick line, yo

There once was a singer named Jussie,
who told a story some thought was a doozy.
His ribs they did bruise,
to LA he did cruise,
Gay Tupac, but a little more bluesy.

:) I was thinking more, last name rhyme... but thanks!

Walkin' at night with Subway, so cold!
MAGA ninja's attack, very bold!
It's Empire Smollett!
But don't touch his wallet!
Watch how this bizarre story unfolds!

Some guy from a TV show quite risible
Was attacked by two ninjas invisible
"They fractured a bone!
But they left me my phone!"
Yeah, we know who's the real ******* criminal.

SOOooo, they are looking at more footage and released a statement that it will inform, and that if needed they will file charges for filing a false report.

Does anybody here need to borrow a magnifying glass to read between those lines?

There once was an actor named Smollett
Who wasn't relieved of his wallet
He suffered a bruise
Or was it a ruse?
I don't know what else I would call it.

I'm sticking to the kinky sex game gone wrong story I pulled out of thin air earlier on.

Second choice: the actor started the altercation.

Third choice: stealing clothes from a clothesline, got tangled in it, knocked over bottle of bleach. He didn't realize the clothes would be frozen so it messed up his plan. ;)

This would explain the lies.

The police are seriously going to try and trace the clothesline? Haven't they been following this discussion?

Fun thread!

27%

And of course, with no trial, the lynchings were all for "suspicion", not anything at all proven. And this doesn't include many murders in race riots, that were entirely random, and so forth.

So we now have unironic lynching apologists?

And people wonder why no actual skeptics no longer want anything to do with this site?

This is my surprised face.

Nobody wonders why and haven't for years. At least those paying attention anyway

Update from Rob Elgas:

"CPD Detectives have found additional video but it does not show an attack. Wouldn’t say what it shows."

Of course it does not show an attack.
