The deep insult is (IMO) that Bush Minor will simply be dismissed by history. No historian, 30 years down the line, will be looking for Bush Minor's imprint on anything significant. He is the beefcake weatherman, not a meteorologist. They will be writing papers on the way that access to Bush Minor was manipulated and exploited by various factions within the Administration. Rove and Cheney are the Nevilles and Percies of this story.

Track back through Reagan, Nixon, the Goldwater Lesson, Ike's warning about the "military-industrial complex", and the abrupt shift in US policy vis-a-vis the outside world in 1941-45 ...
