Hitchens being an ass

My grandmother is dyslexic, and she can spell a lot better.

I know you're just trying to bait me here. I wonder what forum you're all planning on doing your trolling from? I doubt it's 4chan itself. No one has any attention span there.

So you frequently call people liars without evidence?

Either way, I call "troll", with evidence.

Oh great, now you're discriminating against old people, for shame.

Such worthy adversary as I could never be troll.

It not so simple little moth, for this is a Masonic Davinci Code mystery unlike the world has ever seen before.

And now you're sending me messages to my profile page. Congrats, you're making new lows in maturity. Feel free to spam my PM box if you wish.

Ya know, Bombastic Penguin, if you had not popped in there Lonewulf would have had eleven posts in a row, probably setting a new JREF record.

Please stop trying to read my mind. You suck at it.

I, for one, have seen no evidence Hitchens is a critical thinker. Sure, he shares some opinions that critical thinkers tend to arrive at, for example about religion. But critical thinking is not and has never been about which opinions you hold, but about how to arrive at them.

It's a gift I simply read your words and I am in your head.

You should try it some time you just might find you learn something. We call it paying attention.

Did you think Hitch crashed the event?

No, but he was invited as a guest -- not to perform a stand-up comedy act like she was. Again, pointing out the obvious.

Still, to be fair, from the description of the event, everybody there got a little or a lot drunk, and he was hardly the only one to embarras himself.

That's funny, since I haven't seen any evidence from you, in relation to Hitchens or yourself in terms of critical thinking.

I didn´t make any claims about myself, so I have nothing to prove there.

I didn´t claim Hitchens was a critical thinker, so it´s not my job to prove that, either.

I think you should try learning English. Maybe then you would understand what I wrote.

The difference being, most of the people that did get drunk there probably don't do that often in public, whereas Hitchens does it constantly.

Rumor has it he was drunk during the TAM panel discussion, too. I have no idea how to tell, I just thought this was his normal behavior.

Gee that is what I love about this place, you make a point and someone goes out of their way to prove it.

"He who dares not offend cannot be honest." -- Thomas Paine

Or were you attempting to counter your own argument here?

Either way works for me.

You claim that, by reading my posts, you determined that I think something that

a) I do not think and
b) I thus did not express

This leaves me with no option but to doubt your reading comprehension skills - or your honesty.

Either way works for me.

How about you actually show where I expressed what you claimed I expressed. That would work.

I still think that the quote by Thomas Paine isn't applicable here.

Compare:

"God does not exist, and here's my evidence for why" -- offends people (also arguably not actually provable, but that's irrelevant). Yet, it's someone expressing their idea for the truth.

"She's a black dyke" -- Offends people. Yet, it's expressing their idea for... actually, no, it's just an insult that has nothing to do with what the person is saying, or truth values in general.

I like Thomas Paine. I really do. But in this case, he's not arguing what people want him to argue.
