History Possibly Lost.

The Letter was never my personal property, and serious Problems Exist with the Idea that Lincoln Crossed the River at Cloverport....

Again, let me stop you right there. I feel like I speak for both the thread and mankind in general when I say again that your geographical musings mean absolutely nothing if we dont even know if this letter, in any of its multiple authored incarnations, even exists or ever existed.

Track down your kinfolk and find the letter first.

I know it existed it why I know the exact location of Pates Station including the four drill holes in the Rock left in Blackford creek for the old mill that was used to grind Corn to make the Whiskey the Tavern sold.
I even know where the outhouse was, that Lincoln was said to have used in 1816 I am thinking or erecting a sign on the Road that says Lincoln did his Buisness over there.
What I don't know is what happened to the old Map,.

Totally genuine. I see no harm in proclaiming this particular family artifact as real in any conversation or publication where it could conceivably come up.

Then none of the rest matters.
Although it would be funny to put up an "Abraham Lincoln **** here" sign.

CC, write a book, do. And yes, find a good, even heroic editor. And a proofreader to match him.

And finally, a madman to publish it.

Can you imagine the profits from.selling random shot glasses full.of dirt and claiming "this is Abraham Lincoln's actual **** from 1816! I know because I remember family stories."

Anyone else want in on the ground floor of this exciting business opportunity?

Which is literally every possible conversation.

"I have some concerns about Biden's chances in November."

"Yes and that reminds me of the time Thomas Lincoln and his son passed through Pate's Crossing, which isn't where everyone thinks it is, because everyone thinks Lincoln crossed somewhere else that wasn't even there yet, and my grand-uncle showed me a map of the real location and on the back was a letter from the future President himself. But I have no idea if the map still exists, and also a Lincoln expert said the letter was fake."

"What does that have to do with Biden's chances in November?"

"Well I'm getting death threats from right-wingers in my neighborhood."

There is no such thing as Pates Crossing, it was Pates Stagecoach Station, a Tavern, an Inn, a Mill, a Barn, and an outhouse.
The outhouse was located where the old mine shaft is today, because when Eliss Lyons found out Pates Station was on his 1000 acre Revolutionary
land Grant, not on the Land owned By William Pate, Eliss Lyons took over Pates Station, and set his Slaves to cleaning out the out house, and struck Cannel Coal.
That's How the Victoria Coal Mines Started, at the Out house Lincoln 💩Ed in. They Made the first Coal oil in Kentucky there.

I’m picturing that onion hanging on your belt.

I especially like the family notations of who used the outhouse for generations, including random and unknown 7 year old boys, that they record for centuries.

It was the White outhouse at Pate Station, the other one was near where the Slave Cabins were located, near the horse stables.
It's only Known because that's where the Coal oil came from that caused the Fire at Buckingham Palace when it caught Fire under Queen Victoria.

Can you provide more information about this incident? I have been unable to find any reference to this.

There's a handwritten receipt for the coal oil, signed by the Queen's Privy Councillor, on a page torn from the old Sears catalog that people used for toilet paper in the outhouse where Lincoln ****. Unfortunately the catalog was probably lost when the outhouse was torn down. But don't worry, it wasn't the real outhouse anyway, which was somewhere else entirely. The fire itself, along with its cause, were reported in all the Kentucky papers, and can probably be found in the local library archives. All you have to do is actually go to the library and pull the right issues. I'm sure you'll get to that first thing tomorrow.

Also, please show evidence of Buckingham Palace specifically, or even the UK generally, importing coal or coal products from the USA during the Victorian era, because I can find no evidence of this being a thing (admittedly, I've not spent very long researching this, but as I said, i've found nothing that supports this claim). Britain was, as far as I can tell from an hour or so's googling, a net exporter of coal and coal derivatives at that time.
