Hillary Clinton is Done

Can/will the culmination of Benghazi, email-gate, money bribes, etc. end Hillary's run? If enough of these scandals are significant enough and stick, it's possible. But I expect it to take about 19 months to find out, not one or two... She's got a name out and enough money available to keep her campaign going, and it's that much easier to do when she doesn't have a challenger.

Assuming things remain the "same" for the next 19 months she's THE candidate... and the issue of these scandals will weigh in the most at that time. I think people forget how persistent she was in 2008.... literally, she chased Obama almost until there were no more delegates to distribute.

I would wait before setting any substantial expectations on election outcomes

The short-term polling suggests they haven't found the poop with the right amount of adhesion. FoundationGate has done nothing. It's been the top of the news in the right wing blogosphere and getting prominent play in the MSM for several weeks and there were piecemeal reports/comments before the Uranium Commies came along. Yet Fox, the note Hillary sympathizers, have Hillary back up to where she was in December, favored by 62% of Dems as the party's nominee.

Fox is also showing little change in her margins against named candidates for the GOP. Shift of a point here and there, but they go up and down.

I gather that this probably means they will continue with the scatter-gun attempt and keep firing wildly hoping that if they don't find one issue that really sticks, they at least cop a point or two in negatives from each of the issues they're plugging away at.

New York Times reports that Canadian Partnership Shielded Identities of Donors to Clinton Foundation.

Whole sordid tale is here:

Aides to former President Bill Clinton helped start a Canadian charity that effectively shielded the identities of donors who gave more than $33 million that went to his foundation, despite a pledge of transparency when Hillary Rodham Clinton became secretary of state.

They offer an excuse about tax benefits that is as pathetic as Hillary's convenience fable on her emails.

I think we have all gone well past the appearance of impropriety, and there is Hillary on the campaign trail giving canned speeches before canned crowds and ducking the press.

She wants to be President?????

This is probably as credible as the whitewater scandal.

I'll let the Editor of the New York Times know how you feel.

Hillary used a Canadian subsidiary to collect foreign donations and do an end run around the explicit promises she made when she took Office?

No big deal: Hillary 2016, Probably Just Going to Keep Pocketing Foreign Donations

Yep, a lying, cheating example of a politician. She is going to be a great president!

Hillary Clinton (thank you world for finally letting go of that insistence of saying her full name all the time, btw) is one of the oddest politicians I've ever even heard of, and what I mean is not her personally per se, but I swear I've never seen a political figure so uniformly reviled...I've never met a single person, no matter how liberal, who liked her....most seem to hate her...yet she became Secy of State and is a front-runner for the Presidency. ??

Republicans thought that Romney was going win even though Obama was the heavy favorite. They'll probably be just as delusional this time around. Fine with me. Much funnier that way.

I'm not a huge fan of her, but she is better than anything that can make it through the GOP primaries. So yeah, delusional is the best I can think. It does seem that some sort of avatar bet would be appropriate for those who thinks is done.

What say you 16.5, et al? Avatar bets for a month on the primaries and two months on the election? Or do you want to focus on the election only?

Her speeches sound like the same ones in the primary vs Obama. She is going to be the president only for women so it sounds.

You are simply not living in reality. She is not universally despised. The significant majority of Democrats/liberals have a favorable opinion of her. Though Republicans/conservatives hate her, of course. So what, they hate her husband and former boss too and both got elected twice.

I'm not entirely sure you're right and bigred wrong on this. Obviously most Democrats have some kind of favorable opinion, but I don't think I've ever met someone who actually likes her or wouldn't welcome someone better. I mean, at this point I'll likely support her, but I can't say I like her either.

On the other hand, I'm not sure that's such a bad thing. Americans often seem to have the habit of supporting people they like, who are no better than they are. But we need someone who knows how to do things that need to be done, not someone we can share beer and pretzels with.

Thank you, I believe you because I have found your posts to be full of objectivity and rational thought.

I respect her skills and political acumen more than I like her.

Which almost sounds like damning with faint praise, but this is not just because I don't really like her. Many of the core skills important to a president I think she has great strength in. She also have many traits that rub people the wrong way...which also can be useful in that office.

I'm having a hard time being diplomatic about this.

EDIT: But to be clear, I don't agree with bigred. She is not uniformly reviled. Far from it. I assumed it was hyperbole, but he seems to be defending it...

Of course most people would like somebody who they thought was better but it is absurd to suggest that her having a high favorably rating among Democrats doesn't mean that she she is well liked with in the party.

I know facts don't mean anything to conservatives but the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of liberal/Democrats have a favorable opinion of her.

She is IMO, nearly unelectable as POTUS. This might change if she finds a good running mate, but even then her victory is unlikely. She will motivate far more conservatives to vote than she will liberals.

Did you have an intelligent point to make after this comment or are you finished?
