Hillary Clinton is Done: part 2

I couldn't care less. It's important to know that "shillaries" isn't just a cute word.

Of course you couldn't care less. It makes sense and you're crusading to get a socialist elected.

I will repeat, though. It's an intelligent allocation of resources. The campaign HQ can play "Oh, yeah, where did he say that?" in their one-on-one half court game, but Bern Bros, Shillaries, Ronulans, Trumpistas, etc... permeate the webs on the mentioned sites and the comments sections of news organizations and no one does anything to refute their lies, rumors and innuendos. Bush and friends got away with Swift Boat and Willie Horton because they could claim arm's length and because the victims of the smears didn't fight back. At a given point, rising above the lunatics' fantasies can actually harm a candidate, so they've taken to responding to negative attacks rather than ignoring them.

Using campaign or PAC funds to tell the other side of the story, point out the distortions, etc... is a smart move.

Hillary has to pay people to say nice things about her on Twitter and Facebook. How sad!

I suspect there are a few paid "shillaries" working right here at the International Skeptics Forum.

I think you're wrong. This forum simply isn't important enough to warrant the spend. As noted in your post, the paid contributors are going to focus on social media such as Twitter and Facebook and I wouldn't be shocked to find a handful of news sites and so on where they will be posting comments.

It's not so much that she has to pay people to say nice things so much as paid people will reliably present the message you want to get across as opposed to focusing on the thing that's uppermost in their own mind. I'm sure the candidates wouldn't be thrilled with some of the messages from their supporters put across on this site ;)

"One of the staples of online discourse is assuming that the person you’re arguing with is a paid shill for the company or person they’re advocating. While most people who argue for different positions across the web aren’t actually paid shills, it goes without saying that being a paid shill is something that automatically discredits the person making the argument.

"Correct the Record’s plan, in short, is to flood social media with paid shills and brag about it publicly. This not only further irritates people on social media by spamming them with pro-Hillary messages but it also has the unintended side effect of making your genuine supporters online seem illegitimate.

"At any rate, this debacle-in-the-making should be a lesson to future campaigns on how not to handle social media."

I love the counting your chickens before they hatch statement. How about we look at this in the aftermath of the nomination fight and general election? 'Cuz right now, I see yet another in the three thousand claims of "this will sink her... blow up in her face... is the final nail in her coffin... etc...."

Hint: If you want secret agents out there, you don't start a PAC called "correct the record".... that makes it pretty obvious what the purpose is... to counter the lies told by the overzealous and dedicated ('cuz they aren't shills, no they're grassroots wonderfulness fairness folks) worker bees on the opposition side.

Maybe it's reaction to poster like one of our more dedicated Hillary Haters, who've been spreading bull-spit for almost a decade, now.

(ETA: It might be that you folks decrying this don't understand politeness. They called it Correct the Record because they deemed it abrasive to call it "Shut your lying pie-hole!" )

And I still couldn't care less if you have a problem with it or not. Typing up another opera or two won't change it either.

And I don't care if you don't care. I just looked up my posting notes and can't seem to find the one that says "Note to self: Don't post if CE doesn't care."

You don't care and don't agree? Explain why, and stop being offensive. I have explained why I think it's a smart move. I don't even know if I agree with it, but it's a slick move.

BS. The facts are admitted, there's nothing "conspiracy theory" about it. Read The Don's post above - this is just a question of if our little place here is important enough and if the output of the obvious suspects would be worth the money.

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?

I read the article. It provides no details about what their "correcting the record" consists of. If they are paying people to post on forums, we have no evidence of it. The only thing alleged by anyone is messages sent to people on Reddit.

You have evidence of paid Shillaries on the ISF? Please share. Otherwise the lunatic conspiracy theory sub-forum is that-a-way>>>>.

Both a Smart move, and a lunatic conspiracy theory? lolz

I wonder if Hillary's pacs were doling out the cash to support the racist attacks on Obama back in 2008, because that was one hell of a racist campaign.

Are you kidding? It contains a link to their statement, which is also cited in my snippet but without the link, so maybe that was all you read. Here it is. Reddit essentially is a forum and the "like" in "social media platforms" they choose as a venue for their "online messaging" indicates that it isn't a complete list. The statement also proclaims that the shillaries have/will get their own little forum/place where they can "conspire" (quoting you, not them):

Correct the Record said:
The task force will provide a presence and space online where Clinton supporters can organize and engage with one another and are able to obtain graphics, videos, gifs, and messaging to use in their own social spaces.

They never said their material consists of unattributed posts on forums (astroturfing?). That is speculation.

Further, the quote you cite is money to support a forum. It did not say members of that forum are paid. Money goes to this forum for skeptics and us to share messaging with Facebook friends. How many threads in the paranormal forum have been about how to challenge a friend's woo? But we are not paid to spread that message.

Unless you jerks have been holding out on me.

More comprehension problems? Color me surprised.

One post quoted was referring to the practice of countering HDS suffering trolls by setting the record straight. I feel that it was a smart move.

The other post was in reaction to a chain of posts insinuating that there are paid shills, here, on these forums.

lolz back atcha!

Do you really wonder? Pull the other one. You just find it a convenient segue to revive one of your favorite no-one-cares-about-it dead horses. It's been a slow news week, so we understand.
