Hillary Clinton is Done: part 2

Every once in a while Trump says something sensible, such as suggesting that the US deal with Israel/Palestine neutrally. (Hugely contradicted by his AIPAC speech, but I digress.) Clinton ripped him for this, which disgusts me to no end. Even within Israel there's a far more robust debate about Palestine than here in the land of Tweedledee, Tweedledum, and Florida electoral politics.

For someone who's "done", Clinton is sure doing well in the polls. She's up 18 percentage points nationally on Trump in the latest Bloomberg poll.

At this stage, barring a Sanders upset she is the nominee. THe only time she will be "done" is when she either loses the race against Trump in the generals or wins the White House. These "candidate x" are done threads pop up in every elections cycle like they go out of style.

We're going to spend 4 years approving 1 supreme court nominee? That is what Republicans are promising. Might as well name the special council for Hillary too.

Of course! I changed work rotations and I forgot what day it was. Lol.

S'okay. I actually woke up and went looking for the results, myself. I've been in Asia for the last fifteen years but still go looking for news on things that haven't occurred yet because we're a day ahead (12 hours, actually but the calendar here has read "Mar 26" for almost ten hours).

I haven't "seen" Skeptic Ginger all day. Hopefully the caucus wasn't too raucous.

It's not until tomorrow.

It's been an interesting day though with Sanders getting a big crowd at the baseball stadium after filling the Basketball arena earlier in the week and Clinton getting the support of the Machinist Union which essentially is Boeing and the economic backbone of Seattle. They're unhappy Sanders called the Import Export Bank a corporate subsidy saying it was essentially Boeing's bank (which is in stark contrast to supporting corn subsidies in Iowa—guess it depends which corporation you are subsidizing). But in this city, Boeing is the economy. A lot of people remember when Boeing went bust and in 1971 there was a billboard up that said, "Will the last person leaving Seattle please turn out the lights?"

Those poll numbers scare me the most. Id rather see the numbers close, cause I highly suspect the wide margin is a reflection of the lesser of two evils effect. If all the folks who truly think Trump would be a disaster (like myself) but who are not particularly enthralled by Hillary (me again...) see those numbers, a good number might (foolishly) stay home or vote for someone else. This would play right into Trump's hand. He's made fools of the pundits and pollsters so far. If he is behind the latest smear on Cruz (likely, at least indirectly) I shudder to think what he would have up his sleeves for her in the general. And she won't even be able to strike back, cause what could you possibly say about Trump that hasn't already been pointed out??

Fun how that long article doesn't mention Sanders once, who in the same poll has a whopping 24% lead over Trump (and some other interesting numbers) and would answer "Dude, you're a billionaire" to Teh Donald's "socialist" smear faster than one can say Shillaries... ;)

According to reporters Asawin Suebsaeng and Betsy Woodruff of The Daily Beast, “a half-dozen GOP operatives and media figures (say) that Cruz’s opponents have been pushing charges of adultery for at least six months now – and that allies of former GOP presidential hopeful Marco Rubio were involved in spreading the smears.”

“It’s pretty clear Rubio’s off-the books stooges were trying to circulate the Cruz sex scandal rumors weeks ago,” one Washington, D.C. operative told us. “Someone put them up to it and it clearly wasn’t Trump.”

Nonetheless, Cruz has been enthusiastically fanning the flames of the scandal – seeking to pin the blame for its origination exclusively on the campaign of GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.

Frankly, we don’t care who leaked the story … we just want to stop picturing Ted Cruz naked.

Huh, I thought the Hillary thread would be more active today, what with Hillary getting nuked from orbit in three states yesterday...

I'm guessing her various precinct captains and assorted supporters are busy denigrating Bernie in other threads.

Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, combined to earn more than $153 million in paid speeches from 2001 until Hillary Clinton launched her presidential campaign last spring, a CNN analysis shows.

In total, the two gave 729 speeches from February 2001 until May, receiving an average payday of $210,795 for each address. The two also reported at least $7.7 million for at least 39 speeches to big banks, including Goldman Sachs and UBS, with Hillary Clinton, the Democratic 2016 front-runner, collecting at least $1.8 million for at least eight speeches to big banks.

Are you serious about that being illegal?

Seems like a sarcastic remark since I can't see any way to actually do that.

Everyone's income sounds a lot more impressive if you add up a lot of years. I'll bet a lot of us here on the board have had over $1 million in household income over the last 14 years. Not that $153 million isn't a lot of money, but over 14 years it's not nearly as impressive.

It's not much different from acting like the fees Goldman Sachs paid for Clinton to speak were outrageous when they were well within line for speaking fees one would earn as an ex-SoS or ex-Senator.
