Highest Pub in Ireland Re-opens

Bah. Spoilsport.

Maybe, but I doubted that the UK had any point below sea level, but it seems that I was wrong:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holme_Fen#Holme_Fen

2.74 meters below sea level.

I've had a drink at probably the second lowest restaurant/bar in the US which is part of the Furnace Creek Inn, in Death Valley. Probably the lowest restaurant/pub in the US is the one that is part of Furnace Creek Ranch which is about 190 feet below sea level. At the time I had the drink at the Furnace Creek Inn I wasn't aware of the importance of having a drink at the lowest point in the US or of course I would have had a drink at the Furnace Creek Ranch as well.

I've also had a glass of wine with a very nice dinner at the top of the Palm Springs Tramway, which might be the highest restaurant in California. It's probably around 8,200 feet. But you can probably get a drink at the little restaurant at the top of Whitney Portal which is at about 9,000 feet and maybe that's the highest restaurant in California.

LOL at the guy holding the sheep while sitting at the bar.

I was just in Ireland last March for St Patricks. Great time.

I wondered about mentioning Death Valley, but wondered if they mightn't count as pubs.

Craic, Beamish, and fine women? Count me in, and I don't care how high the place is.

My favorite pub story: My wife and I had just hiked around Vinegar Hill and were speaking to a man at the museum about our plans that night in, at that time, tiny Enniscorthy. I asked the man, "Is there a pub in town where we might find a bite to eat?" He replied, almost indignantly "Is there a pub? There's tirty-six!"

Exactly. This is an important issue and people are being left to dangle in the wind over it. How do you know if you've been in the highest pub or lowest pub if the terms remain ambiguous? All over the world people are looking for guidance. Will somebody step up and end the chaos?

Hmm - I am struggling with what differentiates a pub from a bar, except for licensing requirements in the UK.

A particular type of name, for example referring to a notable local event

Should have three rooms and bars

Focus on selling beer from a pump
(Cask ale for preference - actually in the UK, I won't bother with other pubs)

um?
