I opened up a recent issue of Money magazine and discovered some high yielding stocks.

Citigroup 17.4%
Bank Of America 19.2%

I sure the investors in these companies are clicking their heels together right now. But the magazine limits its scope to S&P stocks. And I decided to see if I could do better.

Apartment Investment And Management 43.0%
Ganett 43.2%

Wow!

Can anyone find any better ones?

P.S. I’m short right now so I can’t buy any of these bargains.

Buy low, sell high.
Sell high, buy low.

That's the long and short of it.

How do you know they're bargains? It's easy pick stocks with hindsight, but not so much in the future. What do you buy, when do you buy it, and when do you sell?

In the case of Citigroup and BoA, I think that they are rumored to be insolvent and may be nationalized. (I know squat about them personally, but I wouldn't touch them now. Completely opaque.)

If yields are unusually high, there might be a reason that you should know about before buying.
