Herman Cain leads by 20 points!

Seems like an odd thing to say, doesn't it? If you didn't have an affair with her, then why would you worry about what sort of proof she has? If there was no affair, there would be no proof.

Reminds me of the concerns a rape suspect has: should I deny knowing the woman? having sex with the woman? or should I say we had consensual sex?

Anyway, I'm still less worried about Cain's sexual harassment history than I am about his preposterous proposals and really weird policy positions.

Odd thing to say, part II:

"Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults -- a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life. The public's right to know and the media's right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one's bedroom door.

If it never happened, why mention that it was consensual?

"It never happened, but if it did, it was consensual"

He's toast.

Blue dress or it didn't happen. :p

I got the opposite feeling from you I think, I saw a desperate woman facing eviction just before x-mas taking time out of her busy schedule to "set the record straight". It doesn't make sense.

Hilarious stuff though, as much as I'm trying to avoid it I can't help watching this Cain Wreck.

Another one bites the dust.

So, anyone want to take bets on how long until ol' Newtie flames out (again)?

Meh. The primaries start next month; unless something knocks Newt off his pedestal quickly, I think he might be the main Notromney. I doubt he'll beat Romney, though.

Hush, you! (Foolmewunz spits in the dust, throws salt over his shoulder, and gives some ancient anti-evil eye hand gesture.)

Do not jinx this. December 20/21 is coming. Long cold days, nothing for reporters to do but sit around jawing with Teh Newt in New Hampshire. America's favorite intyleckshule goober is just bound to go for someone's throat. He can't resist.

Well, I don't think he can win in NH, but he can take the Iowa Caucuses (as opposed to Caucasus - them ain't in Iowa,.... yet). So in the early round you have Iowa for Newt, NH for Romney, South Carolina for Newt. I think there's more to this battle than meets the eye. Yes, the money's still on Romney, but can the money pull it off? I'm thinking "yes", but it's not a loud and forceful "YES!!", more like a "yes,... well, sure, I guess...".

That we tolerate the fact that Iowa and New Hampshire are the states first down the primary chute at the same time that the worst of the winter is in play is just idiotic...beside the fact that they are not representative of USA demographics in general. Maybe we deserve the pols we get after all. :)

Cain's arrogance and the credibility of some of the complaints of sexual hassment make this latest dust-up look a lot more likely.

We threw Edwards under the bus before we even had this much on him.

Not soon enough. He was your V.P. nominee, and you even ran that loser Kerry for President. Don't be such a shill.
Partisan blather. Kerry is more a man and a patriot than Bush the Lesser and we are worse off for not having elected him.

At that time, of course, we had never heard a thing about Edwards' screwing around.

Get your timeline straight.

From CBS News

Although Cain said Monday there had been no affair with White, his lawyer issued a public statement that included no such denial and suggested that the media — and the public — had no business snooping into the details of consensual conduct between adults

Has anyone asked Bill Clinton for a response to this?

I'm not a partisan. You can't say the same. Kerry is no more a man than Bush #43. They're both **** ups. Furthermore, Kerry is NO patriot. He's a sniveling gigolo. He has shown time and again how little he cares for the soldiers of this country. Sorry for the dander, but Kerry is an ass, and so is Edwards. Don't tell me you didn't see that before we knew the truth.

My timeline is just fine, and you're still a partisan flack.

and ETA: Cain is still a goner.

While I think Newt's an extremely poor candidate, I don't think he's a flash in the pan (like Trump, Bachmann, Perry & Cain), since he's already a known commodity in national-level politics.

I could be dead wrong (and his poll numbers might drop well before the first primary), but it could also turn into a Romney-Gingrich race.

I think his biggest problem is that he's decidedly a Washington insider. The GOP should be running on a "change" platform. (He actually called the 2010 GOP legislative class "amateurs"!)

It's astounding in this day and age that someone with this much baggage would enter race for POTUS oblivious to the probability that the baggage would become public.

Your thought seems inutuitive and yet it's apparently not. As a country, we seem to be adjusting to the idea of a flawed president/(ial)candidate. How this will all work out is baffling to me.

Not Obama, not Romney could equal Gingrich. Wow.

I have no doubt that he'll pull out (so to speak) but his post-campaign future looks exceedingly bright. He'll give a stem-winder of a speech at the GOP convention then go on to a multi-million dollar career as a extreme right-wing gadfly. He'll be a wingnut convention superstar, pulling down $100K+ per appearance. Not bad for a pizza twiller.

I think this was his strategy all along. Then when he accidentaly was thrust into the lead, he wasn't ready for it.
