Hermain Cain "Suspends" Presidential Campaign

The White House isn't really suited for Santorum, it has far too much security on the back door.

Zero. A ticket composed of two guys both of whom have female problems. Ain't gonna happen. Period.

But if it did, every political comedian would get down on his/her knees and that the lord for the endless gift.
 
What I don't understand is, why don't these horndogs get that in a presidential nomination race, their behavior will come back to haunt them?

And I'm not sure it matters who he endorses. The GOP frontrunner race has had a "flavor of the week" tone for months. There doesn't seem to be a solid base for any one candidate. These folks have been serially trashing their frontrunners all year, which tells me there's no consensus forming around anyone. But, maybe that's what primary campaigns are all about.
 
A prominent GOP representative speculated on CNN that Cain's motives were simple...Sell books.
Why he did not say this publicly during the debacle is open to question.

They are mostly rather arrogant and simplistic in their reasoning.

Consider that the typical republicon considers the rich to be the "job creators" and feels that they should not be taxed as heavily as the working people whom they exploit to earn their incomes.

They somehow seem to think that we would not notice that the coddled investor class is not creating any jobs at this time, in spite of massive tax relief and record profits.

They probably think that we are all too stupid to notice little details. They get away with one big lie and think that they can get away with all manner of other ethical indiscretions.

One possible explanation is that it would have bitten the claimant in the ass if Cain had secured the nomination.

I agree. I thought early on that Cain was "pulling an Alan Keyes". Alan Keyes was tapped to run against Barack Obama in the 2004 Illinois Senate race, and Keyes just went off the rails. He kept saying the most nutty things to cater to the hardcore right-wingers, even though it was the general election.

In the end, Keyes went down to the 30%-70% flaming electoral defeat, though soon afterward he came out with a new book. A book which sold like hotcakes thanks to the national profile the election had given him.

I give it 4-5 months before Cain's book hits the shelves. Just in time to gin up some "those damned liberals!" kind of outrage for the general election.

Since his campaign was run in parallel with his book tour flogging his current book, I presume that you presume he is going to write a book about this current campaign. It's possible, of course, but I doubt it. A new book would kill sales of his existing book. I'll speculate that he holds off on a new book until after the 2012 election. Then he can drop his pearls of **** wisdom about the outcome.

And with him the only small hope the GOP has.

Only way Gingrich would have traction with the electorate is if some horrific scandal hit the Obama White House, with Obama resigning and Biden taking the lead in the race.

Even then, Biden is a pretty good campaigner himself, and still might win in a squeak.

Wow, I didn't even know he had a current book. Now my hypothesis makes even more sense. I would still be surprised if he didn't have a future book come out within a year about how the liberals doomed his presidential hopes and tried to ruin his marriage.

From Pennsylvania, where Santorum lost his last Senate reelection bid by a whopping 18%. Santorum would not help any Republican win in Penn.
