A series of racy romance novels by an author named Judy Mays are a little too racy for some parents in our area, especially now that they have discovered the woman known as Judy Mays is teaching their children.

I'm sorry, is this where I am supposed to recoil in shock and horror? So far, it looks like the teacher hasn't been fired. I just hope the sexually suffocated parents don't get their way.

Parent Deanna Stepp said the evidence is clear. "She is teaching children that are under the age of 18 and definitely the books that she is writing are adult books. I think she needs to make a decision as to what she wants to do. Either be a school teacher or author," Stepp said.

What's even scarier is the fact that the kids interviewed seem to be agreeing with the parents.

"I was shocked. If you are a teacher you shouldn't be doing that," said former student Shanette Apple.

"I was sort of shocked.Sitting in her class I had no idea. She is a good teacher but I had no idea what was going on behind the scenes," said former student Drew Hollenbach.

Apparently being a teacher, now means that you must abandon any and all sexuality.

WTF??!! :jaw-dropp

Being a teacher means you have to not only drop your sexuality, but do absolutely nothing outside of your teaching in the classroom activities that you wouldn't do in the classroom.

Oh please, I don't think I can cope anymore. Words utterly fail me. :(

Check at Kelly Hornberger in the news clip: "Is she (the teacher) looking at him (meaning her son) a certain way?" So writing erotic novels for adults makes you a paedophile now, does it? I am actually quite scared that people can believe and say such ignorant things.

Also (off topic) why is everyone in that newsclip apart from the anchorwoman morbidly obese? :boggled:

I was actually thinking we should take this one step further. My daughter's 5th grade teacher left, halfway through the year for maternity leave. She should have been fired for broadcasting to those poor, little, innocent minds that she actually had sex. Is no one thinking of the children?

I know a techer ho had to quit as soon as it as apparent she was pregnant, so what you are suggesting is not too far from where we have been. Her son is now in his late thirties or early forties, but still that isn't too long ago.

That school has the right idea. While we are at it, let's fire teachers with hair, because we all know hair can be very sexy. Female teachers should shave their head, tape their breasts down. All teachers should appear as androgynous as possible.

I have never been outside the US so everything I think I know about European countries is based on what other people have said. I have heard that European countries are far more relaxed about language and sexuality. Is this true? If so; is there a raging teenage pregnancy problem? Are there STD epidemics among teens? Is there any reason at all to believe that a sexually open society will lead to hypersexual teens?

It was unexpected but pleasant how the ladies interrupted their Mensa Chapter meeting along their exercise classes to comment on something they have not read. Did you notice how they used "researched"?

I don´t remember being bothered by any teacher´s sexuality. Rather I remember profoundly and repeatedly wondering about asexual oldwife teachers in classroom, does this person have a life at all outside of the schoolyard? It was definitely that way around, not so much wondering about the sexual activity of some, but rather wondering about the apparent asexuality of some. Asexual teachers should be banned, they bother me.

As a man whose wife is a teacher, I protest!

Instead, let's make all the male teachers wear fake breasts, or better yet, get implants, grow their hair/wear a wig, and tape their package to the crack of their ass. That way all teachers will look the same. Afterall, there are far fewer male teachers.

Western Europe is doing better than the U.S. on these statistics. See here, especially the section called "The Lessons Learned" for the reasons. There are further sources cited at the end of the article.

You might be interested in reading reports from the Guttmacher Institute, such as "Differences in Teenage Pregnancy Rates Among Five Developed Countries: The Roles of Sexual Activity and Contraceptive Use" (2001). Related is this PubMed abstract: "How does Europe do it?" (1999)

But remember that Europe is not monolithic in these issues.

Meanwhile, the U.S. keeps hitting its head against the wall:
"Study Casts Doubt on Abstinence-Only Programs"
Washington Post, April 14, 2007

That should get you started.

I am fairly sure sgtbaker knew all that already, and was being sarcastic.

What about people who would do it in the classroom? (Notice I didn't say during class time...)[/QUOTE]

As a funny side note; out of curiousity, I asked my 14 year old daughter is she would have issues, were she to find out one of her teachers wrote racy novels as a side job. To my surprise, she replied, "Absolutely, I would lose all respect for them, too." When I asked why, she said, "Someone who writes racy novels is obviously a racist. Depending on what subject they taught, I don't know if I would want them teaching." /facepalm!

Is your daughter Lucille Ball? ;)

Read through the first few pages of comments on the article and they were all supporting the teacher; including quite a few former students. There was also an implication that the main complainer, Wendy Apple, is a known local whack-job. So, it sounds like that when they said "some parents" they meant "no one other than the ones we interviewed". I suspect the same is true of the "former students". In other words this is a local TV station manufacturing a controversy on a slow news day.

What I find amusing is that this is erotica not porn. The difference being that these are the modern evolution of the old Harlequin novels my grandmother used to read.

For the win!

These people with sexual hangups and ruining people's lives based on what they do after work hours is seriously getting out of hand.
