Herbal medicines and stuff

The biggest problem here as some have noted is that You never know what your getting. Many Chinese herbals are indeed drugs ( some extracts of which have been or are used as medication), the difference being take two tablespoons and make a tea hardly represent the kind of structure, study and understanding western pharmicopia has in relation to its products. Next time you get a prescription ask the pharmacist for the included pamphlet that comes with the drug. It lists indications counter- indications, chemistry, avenues of uptake ,expression and metabolization , drug interactions, warnings, known side effects and a host of other information. Hardly what you will receive from a bottle of Kow Dung from GNC at the mall. So the caveat as normal is buyer beware, the life you save may be your own.

Rolfe and Eos,

Yes, it was a reference to the poster on that thread (linked to in another thread on this forum) but, no, it isn't me as you seem to have guessed, Rolfe. I amazed, actually, that you picked up on it.

(Also, I don't buy lottery tickets either - because I know I can't win - but that was another thread again)
