Hello
Does anyone know any good websites which have tested herbs. My sister is constantly getting herbs from a herbalist for different ills. I am very skeptical though.

There are many evidence-based medicine sites carrying excellent research material - my favourite is Bandolier This is the link to the herbal medicine section. You are absolutely right to be sceptical, but quite a few herbs are beneficial. After all, that's where pharmacy started. However the BIG problem is product quality, and lots of people have been poisoned by adulterated material. Never buy from a `traditional medicine' retail outlet, only from a recognised retailer with a reputation to defend..
 
Have a look at the Bandolier pages on alternative medicine. There is quite a long list pf papers dealing with various herbal remedies, if you scroll down a bit. You'll be able to see which ones have shown some possible efficacy in well-designed trials and which ones are worthless, and what the safety data is.

Of course, a lot of things dished out by "herbalists" probably haven't been tested at all. Another concern is whether ot not the herb being dispensed is actually the right one and not just some look-alike, and whether or not there are toxicity concerns. There have been a number of very serious safety issues connected with herbal mediicne.
