Heeeeeeere's Obamacare!

Like this?

From a different thread

You know, I've seen this reposted before, as if it was clever satire. It's mind-boggling to me that anybody could think it's intelligent in any way. 98% of health care decisions are perfectly amenable to free market forces. The only problem right now is the lack of price transparency.

Sorry? Why is that not important. It doesn't matter if the fountain of youth is available in a country if nobody can afford it.

Its not important because now people can't afford the insurance premium. On the other hand the slackers are having theirs paid for.

How on Earth is healthcare insurance and healthcare in America not market driven?

  • I can choose my provider (not owned or run by the state).
  • I can choose my plan (one crafted by a private firm).
  • I can choose my doctor (one who is independent or affiliated with a private organization).

  • The only difference is it cost more, my premium doubled when insurance companies were forced to pay for the slackers, and kids/adults/loser's on their parents plan till 27.

    Nothing about tort reform though.

Please provide evidence because my personal experience shows your assertion is false.

First we were cancelled, to re-up, ours went from 636.00 to 1213.00

Many business owners that I do business with had the same experience. I don't expect you libs to be part of that as many of you don't own your own business.

Besides Dave, I wouldn't waste my time finding evidence for you!

Be careful there. I have never been against "health care." I am against the ACA and Single-Payer UHC.

What are you for?

Bear in mind that any non-compulsory system will either have people dying of treatable diseases OR having their medical care being paid for by other people.

Also, to some degree, they are benefiting from the high prices paid by the US for new treatments, which incentivizes and subsidizes research and development. Ungrateful, greasy, foreign sponges hate it when I point this out, but it's true.

You're just so classy...

I'm going to need to see some evidence for that before I let you get away with calling me an ungrateful, greasy sponge.

Yes, my own doubled, first they cancelled it. I'm one of the payers, I assume someone else pays for yours?

Could you let me know if you think that this statement carries any weight at all? A simple yes or no would suffice but I'd be really happy for you to expand.

Beautiful. All my questions answered!!

I had read that some companies, for some clients whose plans were quite profitable but no longer qualified, canceled them and intentionally sent out a significantly higher plan. They figured many would simply pay, thus maintaining a profitable client, and if not then they are pushed into the exchanges.

I have not verified this. logger, did you check the exchanges?

Restating your claim doesn't really help in any way.

Do you understand how Obamacare works and why it delivers anti-market driven coverage?

It subsidizes the old and the sick and the poor. It forces users to purchase unecessary coverage and it mandates prices.

All these price controls will fail in a free market, Obamacare will fail.

But Gruber is so smart! If we give all the control to people like him they will deliver utopia and give us health care for free!!!!

Obamacare is a Republican idea. It's based on a market driven solution as opposed to Single Payer. I would have preferred a single payer model, however, your claims that the sky will fall are not evidenced in reality.

Single Payer would, or should spur jobs. Mainly in small business.

No, I don't believe in them. I also wouldn't quality for a subsidy and wouldn't accept it if we did.

We're part of a catastrophic sharing plan now.
It's not an ideology. I'm curious, if you found out that lots of children who have never had health insurance are now getting check ups and preventive medicine would that change your mind?

Yes, I concede this is one of those "think of the children" arguments but this is one time I think it is appropriate. Why should children suffer poor health when they can do nothing about it? We pool our resources to pay for the military. Why can we not pool resources to ensure that all Americans are healthy?

Most importantly, why is it that nations that provide public health care have the best economic and health outcomes?
