You think I made that up to debate? How dare anyone challenge what you believe happened? I'll see your  and raise you 2 more.:rolleyes:

Because, you probably know more about my local pharmacy that I have been dealing for with for 6 Years, than I do. FOH.

I don't think it's unreasonable to be upset that you had to make an appointment rather than just do the walk in, but you would have had to make an appointment for the second shot anyway to be inside the timeframe for optimal effectiveness.

It also isn't unreasonable to think there might be reasons for their failure to provide you with walk in service that you just aren't privy to. I know more about the operations of a factory in the local city than the people living next to it, and I likely know more about he operations of a factory making similar products in China than the people living near it too.

Pharmacy girls sitting around, giggling. Ok. As I said, bad policy.

Re: OP: fully vaccinated since early Ferbuary. Haven't even grown a third arm or anything. Will continue to mask up and social distance till this is in the rear-view mirror, for the benefit of all.

What exactly is a “pharmacy girl”? Sounds more than a little misogynistic. Are you perhaps referring to a qualified Pharmacy clerk? or a registered Technician? or perhaps a professional Pharmacist? Which of those, in your opinion, is qualified to give a vaccine? Would you have been more tolerant of their regulations if they had been “pharmacy boys”?

I went to get my second shot last Wednesday, at CVS. They told me they were not taking walk-ins, since when the FDA authorized booster shots. I thought how crazy this was...there was nobody else there to get a shot, but they turned me away. So, now I have to schedule an appointment, which is about 5 days out.

Any other pharmacies in town? A couple of calls should be able to find someone who will give you the second shot. Just make sure it's the same vaccine mfr.

BTW, I just received texts from Walmart and Safeway welcoming walk-ins. Safeway even offered $10 dollars off groceries for those getting the vaccine.

I didn't. I was a walk-in at Walmart for both my first and second Pfizer shot right on time. Still it would have been better to have scheduled it. I alsot got lucky. I got the last Pfizer vaccine shot the had. They did have plenty of the Moderna which wouldn't have worked for me.

What SG said makes perfect sense. You get 10 or 11 shots per vial. It makes no sense to allow walk-ins when you don’t have the volume to do at least 10 shots in a 6 hour window. You minimize waste by doing it by appointment.

You do but the problem with not allowing walk-ins is then you have to have the entire appointment schedule filled and sometimes people don't show.

Also The Pfizer vaccine vial contains 5 to 6 doses per vial.

I seldom side with Management in any Labor?Management dispute, but I 100% support the NFL Owners on mandatory vaccination; and the think the Player's Union are total Alpha Hotels for their anti mandate stance.
All these big tough NFL Players afraid of a little needle, that hurts a lot less then one good hit during a game. It is to make one laugh.

You know, now it all makes sense. I was upset with CVS corporation for this new policy, but now I realize that one of these stupid split-tails probably misread the memo.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense, considering there are a total of 8 appointment slots for the day. Best to turn people away who want vaccinations, for sure.

If I get infected and spread it to 5 others, three of which whom die, I am ok with it. If they ask me why this happened, I'll tell them to ask SG, she can explain why it makes sense.

Right, I was thinking Moderna, the one my clinic has been using. Still, if you get two or three walk ins over a day, it’s not a good use of resources to pierce a vial and end up throwing away half a vial. You may indeed end up with some waste on an appointment basis but the risk is minimized and you always have the option of giving the extra doses to walk ins or calling in people with later appointments. You have flexibility with an appointment based strategy that you don’t have with a walk-in clinic. Good logistics.

The other strategy is to do a mass vaccination thing but that’s an organizational nightmare and leads to angry patients who have been waiting in line for a long time and don’t end up getting a shot because you run out

Waste is going to happen and each location has a duty to be good stewards of the vaccine. They gotta do what works for them in their situation.

I’m not saying that the specific situation you are talking about makes sense. 8 slots makes no sense just based on how many doses are in a vial; seems like a bad strategy that is wasteful.

If what you are saying is true, that pharmacy has no business administering vaccines.

But in general, an appointment/no-walk-in strategy makes sense.

I've not heard of any surge of "no shows" but you can open up vaccine at the end of a session if you have unused doses.

Our local medics were doing that. They went out to nursing homes to give vaccinations and if they had unused doses at the end, people not yet eligible could get doses. They did the same when giving doses to other firefighters at the fire stations.

I'm sorry the facts piss you off and the fact the pharmacy "girls" weren't meeting your needs but you really should stop digging this hole you are digging.

I'm not saying there are a "surge of no shows". Just that people are not always dependable. It wouldn't surprise me that there are the occasional no-shows.

I guess it depends on how busy the pharmacy is. I travel a lot by RV in small towns I usually stock groceries in towns with a Walmart, Fred Meyer, Safeway etc. I don't know how much pharmacy business they do but every Walmart I've been to has had signs at the entrance welcoming COVID vacination walk-ins.

I was also curious about this and have also stopped at three pharmacies like Rite-Aid, etc . There were signs at these inviting people to make an appointment. But I asked if I could get a vaccination then and each of them said I could.

This is of course all anecdotal and no way could I say it is representative.
