Have anyone read "The Irrational Atheist" by a guy who calls himself 'Vox Day'? Is it any good? The cover of the book says, "Dissecting the Unholy Trinity of Dawkins, Harris, and Hitchens". How successful was it in that regard? Or is the book just a collection of ad hominem attacks against the three?

Everything I've read or heard about Vox Day, including some reviews I read of that book when it came out, suggests that it consists of ad hominems, straw men, Godwin's Law violations, all served up with Vox's unique brand of smug arrogance.

No. However, I did read "I Don't Believe In Atheists," by Chris Hedges. I would say that he made some very good points and some very fair criticisms. But the thing is that the title is misleading; if you take his arguments apart point by point, the great majority of what he was criticizing really has nothing to do with anyone's atheist beliefs. (In fact, things tended to fall apart every time the book ranged too far into that territory.) Keep in mind that Hedges also wrote American Fascists, so I wouldn't put him in the same category as Vox Day at all.

All you really need to know about Vox Day can be found by researching his editorials on WorldNetDaily. That being said, I doubt I will read his book or that I would find anything particularly profound even if I did.

I started reading it, and there were a LOT of bad arguments, I said to myself that this is a worthless endeavor. It started out with trying to dissect Dawkins' statements about his own religious beliefs, and the arguments are so weak a 5th grader could argue against them.

I remember a thread about it a looooong time ago.

ETA: Here

This is a good thread to read through. It will be a good start for discussion.
