While I'm suspicious of the article's motives, the video is harder to negate. Unfortunately, it's an increasingly common bleat by students caught up in the SJW mental bog. Effectively undermining everything that was worked for in the last sixty years by attempting to force this narrative of "white people are evil, kill them all" along with the "in order to be equal we must be separate" mentality. The adults involved are even worse, gleefully encouraging their students to attack "wrongthink", which just so happens to include such heinous crimes as "disagreement" or "requiring evidence".

Given it was a debate competition it's very likely neither of them actually holds the views they put forth. IIRC, in a debate competition you're assigned a side to argue and you use your debate skills to try to win regardless of your belief in the topic.

And IIRC, debate competitions have been subverted by a new strategy in which students of color argue about white privilege no matter what the topic. If you had read the article which the OP linked, you would know that the topic was "renewable energy." You would also know that the debaters claim that their argument represents their sincerely held beliefs. Not sure why people post about a topic without first reading the information contained in the OP, but it does seem rather common around here.

If it was truly a debate about renewable energy . . .

Well, OK, in a weird way it kind of makes sense. It would be much easier to have a sustainable energy infrastructure and not emit so much greenhouse gasses if the global population were much smaller. Therefore it would be ethical for people to kill themselves for the common good. But which people? Well, white people of course. Because besides being generally oppressive, white people also have the biggest carbon footprint on average. (Of course I'm not endorsing this, just imagining how the chain of logic goes.)

I'm reminded of something I saw which I believe is actually the work of a troll, and not a sincerely held belief. Remember, this is probably someone trolling (and "Emily Goldstein" is probably not a real person) so don't take it literally:

I would hope that college competitive debates are better than high school competitive debates, but in the distant past, when I was on a debate team, it was a complete joke. Being fed up with trying to refute the constant refrains that our plan (some change in trade policy) would cause nuclear war, just like every other plan that was presented, we boldly waited for cross examination, and when the kid said, "Are you aware that your plan would cause nuclear war?" We said, "So?" And subsequently argued in follow ups that "Death is good." We had lots of quotes from philosophers ready for it.

We lost that debate, but a friend of mine, a junior, refined it and presented it better with a straight face and took it to the Illinois state championships the following year.

Competitive debate is not to be taken seriously, so I wouldn't put any stock in what any of these people are saying.

It's practically a mirror of the GOP: Scream "RINO/SELLOUT!" at anybody who isn't ideologically pure enough and eventually you get Trump/**** like this.

There might be some perspective on the affair to be gleaned from the closing paragraphs of the article.

eliciano and Davis are not some anonymous student crackpots posing as serious debaters.
They form a respected two-person debate team that took second place at the 2013 Cross-Examination Debate Association Nationals, according to Infowars.com.
Feliciano also acts as an instructor at the Eddie Conway Liberation Institute, an annual debate camp at Coppin State University that reportedly instructs high school students on debate strategy and radical thought, Infowars.com reported.
The institute is named after former Black Panther Party member Eddie Conway, who was convicted and imprisoned for 44 years for his involvement with the 1970 murder of a Baltimore police officer.

Somewhat curious about the Cross-Examination Debate Association, I checked them out a little bit. Wikipedia offered this insight;

In the 2013 tournament, the winning team from Emporia State University was criticized for using personal memoirs and rap music to criticize white privilege during the debate.[1] Opponents to this form of debate argue that rhetorical tools utilized by recent championship teams violated the anti-harassment policies of CEDA and the National Debate Tournament and common sense.[2] CEDA President Paul Mabrey points to the value of limited actual formal rules in CEDA debate and the ways that a variety of forms of debate raise the educational value of the activity and call these objections "nothing other than thinly-veiled racism."[3]
In the 2014 tournament, the CEDA came under fire for crowning a championship debate team whose arguments critics described as incomprehensible and off-topic and whose members refused to abide by time limits and moderation, going so far as to make a fart sound as a rebuttal.[4] Despite winning the tournament, the winning team from Towson University was criticized by these observers for referencing racial slurs.[5] In the wake of this controversy, CEDA President Mabrey stated in an official CEDA video of that the accusations of poor preparation and incomprehensibility “...[R]epresent the worst of our human bigotry. In spite of the rather tenuous connection to Harvard, I would not be inclined to consider these students to be particularly representative of anything beyond their own rather tiny and self-contained world of verbal gamesmanship. A debate team foray into street trash talking.

I will just take a moment to announce that A) I have no intention of killing myself - carbon footprint or not and B) I fully intend to kill any person/group deciding to help me kill myself. And, for safety's sake, I will burn their corpses- meaning they will be adding to the carbon footprint they hate!!!!!

I've seen a lot of these CEDA debate videos and it is a complete joke.

You can either have a society that embraces diversity, hatred of excellence and caters to black sensibilities or you can have high civilization.

What you cannot have is both.

And any white person who thinks that the situation will be improved and their safety will somehow be assured as whites dwindle in number and influence, is living in a dream world.

Whites are headed for tiny, hated global minority status. Safety and the preservation of the institutions and cultural norms they hold dear can only happen behind a well defended border in an explicitly white nation or nations.

There are those who understand that already and those who will within 20 years. The institution of the self-hating white person is coming to an end.

My son claims black lives matter protestors at Harvard university were calling for whites to commit suicide. I can't find anything to support this claim. Has anyone else seen/heard such a news report?
