Harry Reid told Blago: Don’t appoint Jesse Jackson Jr

Not just Jackson, though. He also warned him away from Rep. Danny Davis and State Sen. Emil Jones but assured him that Tammy Duckworth and AG Lisa Madigan would be acceptable.

Fun fact: Jackson, Davis and Jones are black, Duckworth and Madigan aren’t.

Now if Reid opposes seating Burris, that will be four African-American Illinois politicians that Reid has opposed to fill Obama's vacant seat. Since Obama's resignation, there are currently no African-Americans in the Senate.

I wonder if this will go over well with the African-American community, an important democratic consituency?
