The BBC is reporting breaking news that the leader of Hamas, Abdul Aziz Rantisi, has been assassinated by an Israeli helicopter attack on his car.

Dr. Abdel Aziz Rantisi : "If it's cardiac arrest or an Apache helicopter, I prefer to be killed by an Apache"

I think Rantisi knew when he said it that any leader of Hamas knows that they can forget about worrying about their cholestrol levels.
It is funny how much of the US arsenal is named after the indigenous tribes that they mostly slaughtered before expanding overseas.

Well, so much for the claim that israel doesn't listen to Palestinian demands.

Now if a stray missile would help Arafat to the field of virgins...and I wonder when a Hamas leader will attempt some good-faith negotiations? The next? The one after that, maybe?

Knowing Hamas, they will take a 14 year old kid and say this is our new leader.

Well, Israel has already set the bar high after killing the wheelchair bound spiritual leader of Hamas. I think the fanatical notions that the high leaders are untouchable have been shattered. Thus, I expect less backlash over this than the last assassination.

I could be wrong.

:D

Still, apart from the Apache I can only think of the Tomahawk (not that that was a tribe, mind you).

Good. People have to learn what "NO RIGHT ON RED" means.

This thread is really perking up my day.

The timing was rather interesting. A few hours after a suicide bomber wounded 3 and killed one. Now all the news is discussing whether it was retaliation or pre-planned. My money is on pre-planned.

And demon, it is funny how much is named after indigenous tribes, but only in you showing what you know, or rather don't know, considering very little actually is.

I guess we better not kill Bin Laden then, he has bad kidneys and a liver condition... ;)

Ok I won't pretend that I am sorry for this scum but those news confirm my theory that when Israel considers somebody an enemy it kills him ( the Mosaic Law rules in the country...). Arafat who is safe and sound is our man...

The Palestinian Authority condemned the killing of Mr Rantissi, accusing Israeli of "state terror".

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this Israeli crime and state terror," he said.

This is what happens to those who F**** around with us and spill our blood in the streets. Sorry. I wonder who will have the guts to take the leadership of those murderers now.

The democratic Europe will mourn for poor Randisi... *sigh* What a tragedy.

Has someone hacked into your account? This outburst is so untypical for you...

I won´t mourn for Rantisi. (I wouldn´t mourn for Sharon, either, but that´s another story)

The issue I have with this assassination is not that he didn´t deserve it, but that Israel, as a democratic nation, should be above assassinations - there is such a thing as arrest, trial, and conviction, you know...
Also, it is unlikely that the assassinations will really make things better. It will make Palestinians even angrier and cause them to hate Israel even more. Contrary to what some would make us believe, there are still a lot of Palestinians who do not support violence against Israelis - I wonder for how long, if this continues...

Well, that's certainly an expert opinion.

I am sorry Chaos but I cannot pretend that I feel sorry for those people( Hamas) who have ruined the peace procedure. Those people have made the pacifists of both sides look like idiots.

I am a pacifist not an idiot.
