As major media presents Halloween and occult related news stories I hope the media take's a hard look at their damage in presenting paranormal claims by psychics and occult businesses as Halloween entertainment. Don't get me wrong --- I enjoy Halloween. What I don't enjoy is watching TV reporters and "journalists" using Halloween as an opportunity to promote local psychics --- particularly missing person psychic detectives involved with searching for young children. Past stories at Halloween have lacked ANY skepticism and allowed all sorts of claims to go unchallenged. In following up later the reporters have simply said 'Heh it's an innocent Halloween entertainment piece.' It happens each year across the U.S.
Perhaps this year we'll see more than a skeptical review of astrology claims and more emphasis on the damage done by psychics, and yes groups of "witches" who sometimes hide behind religious claims but nonetheless have often promoted paranormal missing children nonsense. Psychic stories at Halloween from journalists and TV reporters is not journalism but rather a promotion of public charades.
