H.R.539 -- We the People Act

It still comes down to the crazy old fart's wanting to ban abortion and homosexuality and to establish state religions. Since the Supreme Court could, as the law now stands, rule that a state has violated the US constitution by banning certain sexual practices or requiring prayer in schools, what crazy old Ron wants to do is tell them to butt out so that the states can begin limiting citizens' rights.

This is not defending democracy, but opening the door to more limitations of individual rights at the state level.

Which is why it's so exasperating to hear people insist that they don't care for Ron Paul's conspiratorial thinking, they aren't PaulBots, but they support him anyways because he's a "true libertarian" who believes in liberty. If it's all about protecting liberty, why the obsession with leaving the states free to deny people's rights? (And I'm even putting aside the abortion issue for now.)

As much as politicians like to rail against "activist judges" (defined as "judges who make decisions I don't like"), the judiciary is still the branch of government most trusted by the people.

Which is ironic as they are all lawyers. :eye-poppi

But they are generally on the public payroll rather than corporate, with the exception of an egregious few like Thomas, Alito and Roberts and the twit who shipped a former state governor off to federal penitetiary with no stay for the appeals process on a bribery charge.

Because it will leave the state at liberty whether to do so or not? :boxedin:

How come the Paul supporters are ignoring this thread?
Have you ever been in a room when the air became heavy with the smell of someone's particularly disgusting flatulence? Notice that everybody moves away from it, but only a few complain openly, while the person you just saw wolf down three rations of chili with beans finds something intreresting to look at outside the window?

Clearly you haven't read Ron Paul's H.R. 540, the "Whoever Smelt It, Dealt It Act"

I JUST decided i'm voting for obama in the general election no matter who gets the GOP nomination after reading this.
