GSIC AUDIO

BPSCG said:
Bump.

So what's new (if anything) on the GSIC front?

Nothing. I'm kinda waiting. I figure Randi's busy and hasn't gotten to approving the protocol yet.

But, I'm making this post while a red-faced quarter-Korean drunk.

Ask me tomorrow. It'll probably be the same answer, but you'll get it in sober form.

I don't want to bump the other thread, but has anyone followed the aftermath from Wellfed in any of the audio forums? I haven't, but was wondering how he was trying to skew the result of his waffling.

I took a quick look, but searching that forum is a nightmare when you use "Wellfed" as criteria. Didn't see much activity at the time, but I could easily have missed it.

I suspect he's being very quiet about it.

OK. I had to resubmit it. We seemed to have gotten confused possibly on both ends, but KRAMER and Randi are both a bunch of... of... mogglebuttling wegrits.

He was banned from the forum. His silence here is not voluntary.

Kramer, Alfaniner was asking about Wellfed's apparent silence on the audiophile forums. JREF's influential, but not that influential. ;)

How dare you attempt to deny the omnipotence of the JREF! Such insolence cannot go unpunished.

Kramer, you'd best smite this heretical fool.

Ooops. My Bad.

Are you telling me that there are actually OTHER forums out there?

Boy. Am I deluded, or what?

I need a vacation.

Where to?

"I need a vacation." says KRAMER.

Can't you arrange a trip out to LA and help with the test?
After all you went through with this whole thing, it's the least that Mr Randi could offer you in the way of "thanks" --- and please don't say you'll wait after the prelim is passed to get involved with the Final Test of the GSIC. That really might not happen, you know!

10 tests at 50% each way gives a 1 in 1024 of getting all 10, which is not nearly good enough. Make it 20 tests.

Typically, where applicable, preliminaries are 1000+:1 against chance.

Do two of those, and what are the odds?

;)

Randi has approved the test protocol and added the requirement of a Base Line Test.

See the Challenge Application thread for details.

Regarding this requirement, I have composed a new Point for the FAQ that explains it in detail (Point #5.6, but it won't be posted for a couple of days).

Kontinued[sic] Kramer Kudos

Thank you! Such process improvement clearly demonstrates the validity of the challenge and the professionalism of the team. Kudos!
Gratefully,

I did wonder why it hadn’t been mentioned (well I did mention it in one thread but I mean officially mentioned). I think the baseline test is one the most important safeguards the JREF can introduce (I suppose it is not possible for al challenges?) – it not only ensure the protocol will work but also that there is no validity to the after-the-fact excuse of “couldn’t do it under the test conditions”.

Randi and the JREF are well aware of what is at the heart of your argument. Therefore as part of all the preliminary tests (that I have read about) the applicant must first of all prove they can do what they say they can do under the test conditions, but “unblinded”. For example typically with dowsing the initial test is done with the applicant being able to see (or otherwise know) where the substance being dowsed for is located. The applicant then verifies that under the test conditions they can do what they say they can do. Only then is the “blinding” introduced.

As Kramer points out in the Challenge area, applicants routinely pass the baseline test with 100% accuracy ("Shocked!").

I expect no less from LostAngeles on her baseline test. From what I've seen in other forums to which she posts, the woman is capable of extraordinary feats of self-delusion...

:D

Are you still sore about the Enterprise losing to both the Falcon and the Death Star?

Would you believe that the "sponsored link" g-mail gave for Kramer's e-mail to me was for "California Psychics?" *sigh* Oh g-mail...

Somone has to say it.

I'm perfectly ok with that. We'll discuss timing with Jim Underdown in another e-mail then. Not that we'd be doing it in the next few weeks anyway, but I do have finals approaching.

"This weekend is a no-go."

Ha! Beat you all to it!

I do hope we're not going to start seeing excuse after excuse.

(I mean there is evidence in other threads that you have a bit of a ... er... drink problem - i.e. seems as if you can’t drink enough to get completely bloto.)

I'm a "controlled" drinker. There's a family history so I drink very rarely and not a lot. That night was the most I'd ever drank and I wasn't that drunk. I chalk it up to the 30lbs or so I gained since moving.

I have finals, then jury duty right afterwards and I say we do this test ASAP after that. Why? Because there's no good reason not to after that.

I have to work on my personal statement for my transfer app? I can do that whenever. I might be taking an online class? It's an online class that I've written a few potential papers for. I can do those whenever.

Between the end of my jury duty and the end of August I only have work. After that, I only have school. The only thing that can get in the way is an, "Oh, love? We're going to the desert this weekend," on a Thursday but I can get out of most of those.

All other weekends after mid-June are a go.

I'd follow that up with a "LEEEEEEEEEERRROYYYYYYYYYY JENKINS" but none of you would get it.

I wish I was half as rich as most applicants. One million dollars would take priority over anything else in my life.

Finals? Screw that! I'm going to be a millionaire!
