Gregg Abbot shooting himself in the foot

Chicago politics are known to be dirty. Something like 4 of the last 7 governors of Illinois are in prison, or have gone to prison.

That is the state, not the city. further is was only really two governors that went to prison based on actions that occurred while they were governor, Blagojavich, a Democrat, and Ryan, a Republican.

The real reason that the GOP hates Chicago is that the city works.

Oh, there have been scandals and the like, but overall, the city works efficiently as any other. and it has done so under Democratic control for over half a century.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I just saw this yesterday...

#4 Chicago, Ill.

Chicago has passionate supporters, but residents must endure the misery of long commutes, plummeting home prices, brutal winters and high foreclosure rates. The migration rate out of Chicago is the sixth worst among the 200 largest metros.

But Abbott's campaign is brushing off Nugent's history of contentious comments.

"The controversy is what he said in the past. We are not endorsing Ted Nugent, he is supporting us," the aide said.

"It's easy to criticize some of the language he has used in the past," the aide continued. "He is protected under the Constitution, like you and I."

God I wish some reporter had the balls to say "Why the **** are you bringing up the Constitution? No one said his speech wasn't protected. Yes, we criticized the content of his Constitutionally-protected speech and now we'd like to know what your campaign thinks of the content of his Constitutionally-protected assertions that the president is a subhuman mongrel."

.....

On the other hand, it does appear that Mr. Nugent is more interested in generating publicity for himself than anything else. It is not a pretty sight when when attention whores go from being escorts to streetwalkers - willing to do anything to get their names in the public eye.

I'll go with that, just wasn't sure.

I'm just glad all the time and concerts I enjoyed Ted were pre Internet, when his offensive insanity was still hidden.

Hell... the wildest part of his personal life was probably the he was the only rock star that I was higher than. :p

He has been a full-on scumbag pedo from day one. He likes to have sex with underaged girls. The fact that he is a full blown racist is no surprise. Totally diseased mind attracting like (Abbot).

There's a lot more than Nugent's racist comments to dislike. He is an admitted serial pedophile and once became the legal guardian of a girl because she was too young to marry. Also, the brave hunter likes to lure deer with baits and then shoot them illegally.

Of course, his general misogyny plays well with the GOP in Texas, so I wouldn't expect Abbot to denounce him for that. Heck, misogyny is part of his campaign against Davis.

Long time lurker here but I know a couple people who've had personal experience with TN. Thought you all might be interested.

My brother was quite active in the Detroit music scene in the early to mid 70s. He knew Seger, Iggy and the stooges, MC5, Alice Cooper, TN, and many others. All day long music fests were common in those days and the bands would hang together all day and into the night. My brother never got over not being part of the music scene including the drugs and he's dead now because of it.

When asked about TN, he said he was an arrogant ass. I asked him about Ted's claim that he's never used drugs and my brother just laughed.

A friend of my BiL is also friends with TN's Michigan hunting guide. He told us that he was at the guide's house helping work on a truck when Ted stopped by. The guide tried to introduce the friend to Ted. TN just turned around and walked away. Guide was embarrassed and apologized for Teds's rudeness profusely. BTW, the guide would scout the deer for Ted and tell him approximately when and where the deer would be for TN to go out and shoot it. I know many that would not consider that hunting.

My best friend's cousin lives in the U.P. Told us he went to a party one night at a very fancy and large mansion where he lives. He made his way to the kitchen where the pot smoking was going on and to his surprise there was Ted sitting at the table smoking weed with the people there.

I used to love Ted when I was young. The more I see and hear of him, I'm more convinced the he's a contemptible person.

Surprised nobody's brought up the "suck my machine gun" thing yet.

Yes.
Democratic control.
A useful euphemism.

Rand Paul: Nugent should apologize for 'offensive' words

Surprising, to say the least. And I feel a little dirty (not in a good way) for saying this, but good for Rand Paul. :boggled:

Maybe a partial call for an apology....

Asked by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer Thursday in an interview "The Situation Room" about Nugent, longtime Texas Gov. Rick Perry said "The idea that Ted Nugent has said something that's outrageous shouldn't surprise anybody."

So it's merely outrageous, not racist or deeply offensive.

Perry, who's considering a second bid for the Republican presidential nomination, added that Nugent "shouldn't have said something like that about the President of the United States."

So it's fine to say it about any other mixed-race person ?
